Medical Assistant II
Division: Ambulatory Operations
Work Arrangement: Onsite only
Location: Houston, TX
Salary Range: $43,065 - $50,665
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Summary
Baylor College of Medicine's Comprehensive Healthcare Clinic is seeking an experienced Medical Assistant who is proficient in delivering high-level patient care in a fast-paced, dynamic ambulatory care setting.
As an MA II, you will perform routine patient care responsibilities and provide clerical/administrative support, but will also perform very specific in-suite testing procedures in a clinical setting.
Job Duties
  • Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as taking vital signs, collect specimens, and point of care tests
  • Performs comprehensive testing including routine EKG's, placing heart monitors, PFT's. ABl's, cognitive testing, and 24 hour pressure monitoring.
  • Notes the primary complaint/reason for the patient's visit.
  • Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, updates vaccine status, and enters information in the electronic medical record.
  • Sets up instruments and equipment for the physician.
  • Assists with procedures as needed.
  • Administers medication under direction/order of a supervising physician.
  • Instructs patients on general care and medical procedures.
  • Maintains patient and service rooms in a neat and orderly condition.
  • Schedules and operates the Dexa machine to perform Bone Mineral Density Studies and Dexa fit analysis.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED and completion of a Medical Assistant Training program through an accredited institution.
  • Two years of relevant experience.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant through an accredited professional organization (AAMA, AMT, ARMA, NCCT, NHA, NAHP, AMCA, AAH, AAMP, or NPS).
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior MA experience in a concierge clinic.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Strong customer service skills.
