Head Club Swim Coach


Position:  Head Club Swim Coach
Location:  Brighton Community Education / Aquatics
Pay Rate:  $41,601 annual salary




Start Date:  August 1, 2026
Summary of Position:  To work in a coordinated effort with the students, parents, school and athletic department to instruct student athletes in the skills, strategies, safety issues, and physical training relevant, in order for students to realize individual and team success.
Minimum Qualifications:       



  • Previous experience in club swim programming and administration preferred.
  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals, rules, strategies and systems.
  • Willing to undergo a background check.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effective with a variety of students and adults within the rules of the MHSAA, league and BAS.

Duties:

  • Manage all equipment and follow procedure for team equipment purchases.
  • Run all team meetings/program meetings, a pre-season parent meeting and attend Athletic Department and league/state meetings as needed.
  • Conduct tryouts and select team participants.
  • Provide leadership in hosting local, league and state events.
  • Present a calendar of all practices, contests and events as well as Athletic Department guidelines and team rules to all athletes, parents and program head coach (if applicable) and monitor compliance.
  • Provide the Athletic Director with the team calendar, all required student athlete pre-season paperwork and requests for facilities use.
  • Assist the program in and out of season within applicable MHSAA/BAS rules, eligibilities and policies/procedures.
  • Complete ongoing professional development as required.
  • Attend all practices, contests and events with a written plan for the team/individuals including safety issues and utilize teaching techniques that are safe, efficient, age appropriate and non-abusive to students or staff.
  • Organize and run an end of the season recognition event for the team.
  • Report all scores on a timely basis to the media and Athletic Department.
  • Report all injuries or disciplinary issues immediately to the Athletic Director.
  • Provide recommendations to the Athletic Director as needed.
  • Follow district fundraising policies.
  • Responsible for all expenditures and deposits in the internal account.
  • Communicate all student release time from school in advance with Athletic Department and parents
  • Responsible for maintaining discipline and good behavior of team members at all team functions, including transportation to and from events, in accordance with district policies and procedures.
  • It shall be assumed that a coach shall exercise common sense and good judgment.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy of the program.
