Job description

Under the direction of the Director of Competitive & Developmental Swimming, Head Swim Coach, and/or the Center Aquatics Director, the Swim Coach will assist with all aspects of planning and preparation for the Tampa YMCA Swim Team program. The Swim Coach will assist in the development and recruitment of swimmers participating with the Tampa YMCA Swim Team programs and YMCA Swim Lesson program.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Head Swim Coach with the development and implementation of workouts, trainings and season plans.
  • Lead supervised structured practices and/or dry land trainings, ensure attendance is documented.
  • Evaluate swimmer ability/performance and plan strategies for their improvement.
  • Assist in coordinating and executing swim team competitions and meet registrations.
  • Attend specified competitions, training and/or special events as directed by the Head Swim Coach or Director of Competitive & Developmental Swimming.
  • Develop and implement recruitment and retention strategies for athletes in the program.
  • Follow all safety recommendations and guidelines per Tampa YMCA policies and USA Swimming
  • Communicate program information effectively and in a timely manner to supervisors, participants and their families.
  • Establishes and maintains a team attitude, and encourages good sportsmanship for athletes and parents.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
