Batavia Park District is looking for enthusiastic, fun and reliable individuals for the Kids Club program. We partner with Batavia School District and provide before and after care at six elementary schools in the Batavia school district.

Job Summary:
The Kids Club Lead is responsible for the program structure and the day to day operations of the Kids Club site including care of elementary school children, supervising staff and communicating with parents.
Essential Functions:
  1. Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for Kids Club program, responsible for opening, setup, break down and closing of rooms in non-district and district buildings.
  2. Plan rotation for counselors each day, and ensure that children/counselor ratio is accurate at all times.
  3. Responsible for supervision of staff during each shift, ensuring following procedures, code of conduct.
  4. Create monthly staff schedules.
  5. Maintain and create a current inventory list of supplies.
  6. Create a supply list as needed.
  7. Assist counselors with supervision and discipline of participants.
  8. Interact with children individually, games and conversations.
  9. Enforce positive behavior reinforcement techniques.
  10. Communicate with parents and address any concerns they may have.
  11. Communicate with School District staff on an as needed basis.
  12. Work with Fox Valley Special Recreation Association staff as needed.
  13. Responsible for execution of planned activities.
  14. Responsible for collecting and maintaining participant records.
  15. Input on activities and games to supervisor.
  16. Responsible for filling out behavior management and Park District Risk Management Agency (PDRMA) accident/incident reports.
  17. Would be responsible for updating staff/school secretaries on any changes that would be made to the attendance.
  18. Follow proper safety protocols for children and staff.
  19. Provide first-aid care if needed and be familiar with medical needs to children.
  20. Drive bus or van as needed for field trips-on Klub Fun days, if we have a trip scheduled.
  21. If necessary, cover shifts to ensure children/counselor ratio is met.
  22. Perform all jobs and tasks within guidelines and rules of Districtโ€™s safety program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. First Aid/CPR certified
  2. Valid Driverโ€™s License
  3. Aptitude to deal with multiple childrenโ€™s needs at the same time
  4. Utilize positive discipline techniques with children
  5. Capability to manage a variety of personalities and behaviors in children, i.e. shy, upset, high energy
  6. Ability to recognize sensitive situations with children and be able to respond in a timely and professional manner
  7. Understand and anticipate customerโ€™s needs as well as support a customer service environment
  8. Excellent communication skills
  9. Ability to portray a professional image of the District
  10. Capability to engage and manage children in group activities

Education and Experience:
This position requires a High School diploma or 16 years of age with a demonstrated interest and skill in pursuing a career in education and/or child care and two years of experience in working with children.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
  • Majority of time spent standing, walking, and moving.
  • Most activities are performed indoors, exposure to weather conditions during outdoor play time activities.
  • May be exposed to excessive noise from children, music.
  • May be required to assist with set up of programs and classrooms which may include bending, reaching, lifting and carrying items up to 25 lbs.
Pay Rate: $19.50/hour
Schedule: AM SHIFT: 6:15AM - 8:45AM (AM shift start times may vary from 6:15am to 7:00am)
PM SHIFT: 3:15PM - 6:00PM
