Job description

The Cloud Computing Support Lead serves as the senior technical expert for enterprise cloud infrastructure and services that host mission-critical workloads in a highly regulated environment. This role designs, implements, and operates secure, resilient, and scalable cloud platforms across major providers, translating business and solution requirements into standardized architectures, landing zones, and automation patterns. The position leads incident response, problem management, and optimization activities for cloud services while collaborating with security, network, and application teams and mentoring cloud engineers on Infrastructure as Code, containerization, and operational runbooks.
Key Responsibilities
  • Architect, deploy, and manage enterprise cloud environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud), including virtual networks, compute, storage, and managed services that support mission-critical applications.
  • Translate solution requirements into scalable cloud architectures, landing zone designs, and platform standards that align with enterprise controls and governance.
  • Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD pipelines to provide repeatable, auditable provisioning and configuration of cloud resources.
  • Design and operate monitoring, logging, and alerting for cloud platforms, using native and third-party tools to improve reliability and reduce mean time to resolution.
  • Apply cloud security best practices, including identity and access management, network segmentation, encryption, and key management, in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause analysis for complex cloud incidents, coordinating across infrastructure, application, and vendor teams to restore services and prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain standards, patterns, SOPs, diagrams, implementation plans, and recovery procedures for cloud platforms and services.
  • Mentor cloud engineers on automation, scripting, platform capabilities, and reliability engineering practices to build a high-performing cloud operations culture.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 8-15 years of relevant experience designing, implementing, and operating complex infrastructure or cloud environments in an enterprise or federal IT setting.
  • Significant hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), including production deployments of compute, storage, networking, and managed services.
  • Demonstrated expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation) and scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash.
  • Extensive experience leading incident, problem, and change management activities for high-visibility or mission-critical services.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust investigation; U.S. citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional-level cloud certification (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, or Google Cloud Professional Architect).
  • Experience leading cloud adoption or migration initiatives for large, distributed organizations with hybrid cloud architectures.
  • Familiarity with ITIL-aligned incident, problem, and change processes as applied to cloud operations.
