Job description

BQMI is seeking a Multimedia Senior Producer III to support the creation and production of multimedia content for NASA missions and programs, based at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt Maryland. The work will be in support of the NASA Enterprise Multimedia and Integrated Technical Services (eMITS) contract. eMITS is the Agency’s enterprise-level contract creating and delivering multimedia and technical communications through the use of the internet, digital platforms, and IT management for NASA’s Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) and Office of Communications (OCOMM).

From photographing rocket launches and recoveries, to producing NASA TV segments, to information technology management, to using social media to share NASA’s message, eMITS integrates services for NASA IT and provides NASA’s communication to the outside world. JOB DESCRIPTION / FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Deliver polished multimedia products in both Spanish and English, including finished videos, video news releases, and live video content for social media.
  • Ensure all produced video content meets closed captioning requirements and accessibility standards, and provide multimedia editing support to maintain technical, editorial, and brand consistency.
  • Develop platform optimized video content for social media, understanding audience consumption trends, and applying analytics to improve reach and engagement.
  • Participate in strategy, creative planning, concepting, and visual direction for communications projects.
  • Support the development of new seasons of NASA's Universo curioso de la NASA podcast, from audio editing to creating promotional video content.
  • Write succinct, accurate and effective headlines and summaries for video assets and engaging social media copy.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging digital media trends, innovative storytelling techniques, and evolving social media formats.
  • Assist in mentoring interns.

Remote, hybrid, and onsite positions, the employee bears travel costs to the nearest NASA Center for badging and the issuance of NASA IT equipment.

For a Remote or Hybrid position, the employee must have a reliable internet connection and be able to VPN into the NASA network to conduct work.

EDUCATION AND PREVIOUS WORK REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s of Science or Bachelor’s of Arts degree in video/film production, journalism, communications, science communication, broadcast journalism or marketing, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 8 years of experience in video editing, writing for video and overall video production (i.e., pitching, writing scripts, operating cameras, creating motion graphics, editing and narrating).

EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES/SKILLS

  • Native level Spanish proficiency and proven experience creating professional video content in both Spanish and English.
  • Strong interest in science and expertise in transforming complex subject matter into public-friendly products.
  • Experience operating video cameras such as Canon DSLR and Blackmagic Ursa Mini.
  • Experience with tools such as: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Audition.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with creative and technical teams to develop engaging visual content.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms (X, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram) and how to optimize content for each platform.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and support projects beyond multimedia production.
  • Ability to adapt and adjust in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Ability to work with other producers at the agency to collaborate on missions and projects
  • Knowledge of Section 508 requirements.
  • Excellent editorial judgment, copywriting skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive), SharePoint, and Box.
