Job description

The Clinical Director is responsible for overseeing and managing the clinical services of a residential treatment facility serving adolescents aged 11–17. This leadership position ensures the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based therapeutic services in alignment with the facility’s mission of healing youth, supporting families, and restoring hope. The Clinical Director provides clinical supervision, maintains compliance with licensing and accreditation standards (e.g., DBH, Joint Commission), and collaborates across departments to support holistic care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and support a multidisciplinary team of therapists, case managers, and behavioral staff.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualized treatment plans.
  • Ensure clinical programming aligns with best practices in adolescent mental health and traumainformed care.
  • Conduct regular clinical supervision and staff performance evaluations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and accrediting bodies’ regulations, including documentation standards.
  • Facilitate and/or participate in case conferences, family meetings, and staff training sessions.
  • Review and approve all treatment plans, discharge summaries, and clinical documentation for accuracy and timeliness.
  • Lead crisis intervention efforts and provide clinical guidance during highrisk situations.
  • Serve as a liaison with families, external providers, school personnel, and referral sources.
  • Analyze clinical outcomes and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in leadership team meetings and strategic planning.
  • Required Qualifications:
  • Doctorate degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field preferred
  • Masters in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required.
  • Current and active clinical licensure (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Licensed Psychologist) in the state of Virginia
  • Minimum 5 years of experience providing clinical services, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with adolescents in a residential or acute care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of traumainformed care, evidencebased practices, and adolescent development.
  • Proficient in clinical documentation, EMR systems, and compliance standards.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Joint Commission accreditation and Department of Behavioral Health regulations.
  • Certification or training in traumafocused CBT, DBT, or other adolescent treatment modalities.
  • Experience with family therapy and systemsbased approaches.
