In this this position, you will have a blended caseload of Re-entry Community Services Program (RCSP) and Mental Health Sentencing Alternative (MHSA) clients. Clients in both these programs have a serious and persistent mental illness and have been incarcerated. Our partnership with the Community Corrections Officers with the Department of Corrections is to reduce the likelihood of clients returning to prison. Staff provide case management and treatment services, referral to appropriate resources, and partner with the Department of Corrections to support and divert clients from further incarceration.
The Mental Health Care Provider provides clinical behavioral health services in the following important life domains: health, education, employment, social/family, cultural, recreation, spirituality/religion, and housing. These services will be provided with a client-centered, trauma-informed approach aligned with the clinician model and the recovery model to support client's progress toward established goals and objectives. Services are provided to individuals of all ages in virtual, office, or community-based settings. Services include but are not limited to sleep hygiene, mindfulness, emotional regulation, psychoeducation about diagnosis and treatment, referrals to community resources (e.g. housing), cognitive coping, behavioral activation, communication basics, administer mental health measures and provide feedback, coordination of care (e.g. discharge planning, collaboration with other providers), crisis assessment and intervention, identifying strengths and values, groups, and program orientation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide episodic, trauma-informed, person-centered counseling utilizing evidence-based practices within scope of practice.
2. Maintain client records and all other required documentation in a timely and confidential manner in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
3. Conduct risk assessments, develop and implement safety plans, and provide crisis intervention and stabilization services as needed, including facilitating access to inpatient facilities for behavioral health care.
4. Facilitate and co-facilitate client treatment groups.
5. Represent the agency and its services to the community in a positive and professional manner.
6. Participate in required staff meetings, including regular supervision and weekly clinical staff meetings.
7. Participate in any required training, consultation calls, and onsite visits or reviews when required by contract.
8. Accept delegation and follow through with specific expanded assignments and responsibilities within FBH system such as quality improvement teams, task groups, committees, consultations, mentoring or training responsibilities.
9. Establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with clinical, administrative and support staff, community partners, clients, and family/natural supports. Identify and include the client's support network and applicable involved community partners in care coordination.
10. Serve as part of the care team and meet productivity standards in accordance with agency program guidelines.
11. Develop and implement care plans with measurable objectives and obtainable goals, in collaboration with the client, evaluating client's progress and adjusting as needed.
12. Collaborate with master level clinicians, peer support specialists, prescribers, care navigators, or other team members for additional treatment needs as identified on the care plan.
13. Provide care management services to clients including:
- Assist clients in identifying and accessing resources and collaborating with community resources on behalf of clients.
- Assist clients in the development of healthy coping mechanisms in individual or group settings.
- Provide employment and housing assistance as appropriate and necessary.
- Provide education on the impact of mental health diagnosis on important life domains.
14. Comply with all state WAC requirements and FBH policies and procedures.
15. Perform FBH charting requirements, correspondence, Workday, and other paperwork in a complete and timely manner.
16. Operate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
17. May be assigned to supervise bachelor's level interns.
18. Requires travel to see clients in the community and travel between work sites.
19. Other duties as assigned by agency or supervisor.
QUALIFIED APPLICANTS WILL HAVE:
REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
- Must apply for a Counselor Agency Affiliated - Registered credential from the WA State Department of Health within 30 days of hire.
- Must have an unrestricted and valid driver's license, active car insurance and must be willing to use their personal vehicle in the course of work.
PREFERRED:
- One year of experience working with people with a psychiatric impairment.
- Experience with crisis intervention.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of Washington Administrative Codes and statutes pertaining to the treatment and delivery of mental health services.
- Must possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to send and receive oral and written messages, in a clear, positive, prompt, and appropriate manner, while maintaining customer confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to apply active listening techniques conveying respect, professionalism, engagement skills, positive attitude, and empathy.
PHYSICAL, SENSORY & ENVIRONMENTAL:

- This position provided client services in-office and within the community at large on a occasional to frequent basis.
- Community settings include but are not limited to residences, group/congregate living settings, hospitals, shelters, the streets or anywhere in the community at large.
- Some environments may not be ideal in terms of cleanliness or being habitable.
- Occasional frequent travel between locations is required.
- The ability to drive a vehicle, traverse distances up to several city blocks and on various terrains, navigate stairs, get in and out of vehicles frequently is required.
- Daily use of a computer is required.
- May be required to lift 10 - 20 pounds.
PAY RANGE (Hourly/ Non-Exempt): $25.14-$28.29
- All pay is based on longevity at Frontier Behavioral Health; thus, the starting pay for this position is $25.14 per hour.
- This position is eligible for quarterly productivity incentives.
