Overview
In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in person comprehensive client assessments and compiling detailed insurance reports to facilitate the development of individualized therapy plans. The ideal candidate will have strong assessment skills, an understanding of ABA principles, and the ability to write clear and accurate documentation for insurance purposes. The candidate must be comfortable traveling between Gateway Pediatric Therapy clinics, as well as the homes of clients requiring assessment, pending their direct therapy location. Additionally as part of this role, protocol modifications for current clients may occur within scheduled working hours, as applicable, and may be completed in person or remotely.
Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough direct and indirect assessments including interviewing parents, caregivers, and relevant stakeholders to gather essential information about the client's history, needs, and goals for treatment plans
  • Effectively utilize standardized ABA assessment tools (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, FBA) to evaluate the client's individualized skill levels, behaviors, and challenges.
  • Analyze and synthesize assessment results to develop an understanding of the client's strengths and areas of support.
  • Compile detailed, accurate information and reports that meet insurance requirements and document assessment findings, client needs, and recommended treatment plans.
  • Ensure reports are aligned with insurance criteria, including appropriate coding and terminology.
  • Collaborate cross-departmentally with teams to ensure that all insurance documentation is complete, accurate, and submitted on time and to the standard documentation expectation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients' families to gather input, explain assessment results, and outline treatment recommendations.
  • Conduct outreach with the family to maintain rapport and facilitate communication between completion of assessment and start of services.
  • Assist in scheduling assessment sessions and coordinating with insurance companies when needed.
  • Stay current with best practices, ethical standards, and insurance requirements related to ABA therapy and client assessments.
  • Attend regular training, supervision, and team meetings to enhance assessment skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism in all clients, staff, and external stakeholder interactions.
  • Maintain client privacy in accordance with all HIPAA regulations and with Gateway policies and procedures manual.
  • Document and maintain accurate and organized client and employee notes, data, and reports for internal and external processes.
  • Practice good customer service by following up with families upon completion of the assessment report to answer any questions, provide clarification, and ensure they understand the recommended treatment plan.

Qualifications
  • Master's degree required.
  • Previous experience in client intake is preferred, not required.
  • Previous experience is required in conducting behavioral assessments such as VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS, FBA, etc.
  • Must be certified as a BCBA or BCBA-D with current licensure (in Michigan)
  • Minimum of two years of certification
  • Bilingual or multilingual is preferred
  • No past criminal history
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Strong Word and Excel skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to identify issues and create solutions
  • Ability to handle and complete multiple tasks while maintaining organization and accuracy
  • Travel to various clinic sites or client locations may be required to conduct in-person assessments
