About the Role

The Client Director is responsible for driving revenue growth and building strategic client relationships within the Financial Services sector by representing the full portfolio of Dow Jones media, marketing, and advertising solutions. This role requires a consultative seller with deep category knowledge, strong executive presence, and a track record of developing integrated, multi-platform partnerships that deliver measurable client value.

Leveraging expertise in media sales, advertising, client leadership, and business development, the Client Director will create and execute strategic account plans, identify and convert new business opportunities, and expand existing partnerships across digital, print, custom content, video, podcasts, live events, and other brand and media solutions. The role is accountable for meeting and exceeding revenue goals, maintaining accurate forecasts, and building long-term client relationships that drive retention, growth, and advocacy.

Success in this role will be defined by the ability to grow revenue within the Financial Services category, build durable executive-level client relationships, deliver strategic and innovative solutions, maintain a strong and accurate pipeline, and help position Dow Jones as a market-leading partner for media, marketing, and business intelligence solutions.

This role reports to the VP, Sales and supports the Financial Services category.

You Will:
  • Own a portfolio of Financial Services clients and agencies, with responsibility for revenue growth across new business, renewals, upsell, and cross-sell opportunities.

  • Develop and execute strategic account and relationship plans that position Dow Jones as a preferred media and marketing partner.

  • Build trusted relationships with senior client and agency stakeholders, including C-level, marketing, brand, and business leaders.

  • Lead consultative sales conversations by identifying client objectives, understanding business challenges, and aligning Dow Jones solutions to deliver measurable outcomes.

  • Create and sell integrated marketing programs across Dow Jones brands and platforms, including digital, print, custom content, events, video, podcasts, and other high-impact solutions.

  • Partner closely with internal sector, strategy, marketing, insights, editorial, events, and solutions teams to develop compelling proposals, presentations, and partnership recommendations in a timely manner.

  • Maintain strong pipeline discipline and forecasting accuracy in Salesforce and other sales tools, with clear visibility into revenue performance and opportunity progression.

  • Demonstrate strong negotiation and deal leadership skills to close complex media partnerships with significant annual revenue impact.

  • Stay current on Financial Services industry trends, competitive activity, media innovation, and client priorities in order to proactively identify new opportunities.

  • Represent Dow Jones externally at client meetings, industry events, and thought leadership forums as needed.

  • Use AI-enabled tools and data-driven insights to improve prospecting, account planning, proposal development, workflow efficiency, and client solutioning.

You Have:
  • 10+ years of client-facing sales experience required, with strong preference for media, advertising, sponsorship, marketing solutions, or consultative sales experience.

  • Deep Financial Services sector experience and understanding required, including familiarity with key subsectors such as banking, wealth management, asset management, fintech, payments, and insurance.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding revenue targets and closing complex, multi-platform deals.

  • Demonstrated success developing senior-level client relationships and influencing executive stakeholders.

  • Strong knowledge of the digital media landscape, integrated marketing solutions, and evolving client expectations around measurement, audience strategy, and performance.

  • Experience using AI tools productively and responsibly in sales environments, including research, planning, content development, and workflow optimization.Excellent presentation, communication, and storytelling skills in both one-on-one and group settings.

  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work cross-functionally to deliver best-in-class client solutions.

  • Superior negotiation, organizational, and account management skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field preferred.

  • Proficiency with Salesforce, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and related sales productivity tools.
