(CaAccounting) are seeking a Managing Director to lead our team of accounting and tax professionals in Hawaii and California. HiAccounting and CaAccounting are affiliates of The Hawaii Group, Hawaii’s leading business process outsourcing firm. The ideal Managing Director is team, client and community focused. A strong leader with the ability to bring cohesiveness in culture, processes and client service across multiple offices in Hawaii and California. 
Our team of accounting and tax professionals work together to serve businesses, nonprofits, and individuals on their outsourced accounting, bookkeeping, tax preparation, tax planning, and payroll service needs. POSITION SUMMARY
HiAccounting is seeking a Managing Director to oversee the accounting and tax departments in Hawaii and California. The Managing Director is primarily responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and oversight of the team of 15 staff in Hawaii and 8 staff in California. This is a high-level position that works closely with the CEO/President, Chief Financial Officer and Director of HR. As part of the executive leadership team, the Managing Director is essential to the implementation of our company’s vision and success of the organization. 
The Managing Director reports to the President/CEO of HiGroup. 
The Managing Director may also be requested, on an as needed basis, to help fulfill duties, align processes, management staff or assist with other functions for the management of related or sister companies such as but not limited to DemandHR.  
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Client Service
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with business owners and CEOs of current and potential clients
  • Effectively manage client relationships to enhance client satisfaction
  • Consult, work with, and service our client base to make recommendations on business improvement and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client
  • Identify, formalize, and execute best practices in onboarding, implementation and project management in order to meet client accounting and tax needs
Business Development 
  • Lead team on proposals and business development calls
  • Works closely with sales and marketing to maintain and develop ideas for advertising such as but not limited to: content marketing, website, social media, blogging, networking, and other programs to enhance growth.
  • Execute our practice's growth strategy by helping lead our expansion into new service areas
 Team and Office Management
  • Align processes, cultural values and team management for Hawaii and California
  • Maximize revenue from each client and ensure clients are retained; identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities
  • Effectively manage the fundamentals of billings, billing rates, collections and work in progress (i.e. realization, utilization, leverage, accounts receivable, and expenses)
  • Review and maintain internal policies regarding processes to maintain confidentiality and reduce risks 
  • Provide technical expertise in the areas of tax, regulations, accounting standards, market practices, trends, and process improvement recommendations
  • Ensure all team members are continually developing its market innovation and expert knowledge
  • Actively recruit, retain, supervise and develop staff to meet the growing demands of clients
  • Implement, manage and create new employee incentive programs such as but not limited to our CPA Reimbursement Program, Education Reimbursement Program, Bonus Incentive Programs, Tax Quarterly Incentives, etc.
  • Ensure performance evaluations, staff compensation, goals, and bonus programs are maintained and effectively implemented with continuous review for improvement to ensure the success of team’s development  
  • Ensure all employees are supervised and managed to perform their functions in strict accord to Company policies and procedures and applicable accounting, income tax rules, regulations, and laws
  • Review and assess technology opportunities for efficiency and reporting maximization

Preferred Technical Knowledge Areas:
  •  Accounting Standards/Generally Accepted Accounting Principals 
  • U.S. State and Federal rules, regulations, and laws that relate to the preparation of income tax returns for individuals and businesses 
  • Payroll and Payroll Taxes 
  • Outsourced CFO and Controller Duties such as but not limited to: organizational structuring, bank financing, KPIs, accounting system selection, business owner succession planning, business plan development, internal controls, etc.

REQUIREMENTS
The ideal Managing Director is familiar with accounting, tax and financial operations in a fast-paced, for-profit environment. This person will meet most or all the following requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. An advanced degree (e.g. Masters in Accounting, MBA, etc.) is a plus.
Experience: Eight (8) or more years of experience in public accounting or equivalent with a strong emphasis on client service, technology, management and business development. Accounting and tax experience preferred. 
Licenses: Active Certified Public Accountant License is required. 
Computer Skills: Proficient knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and MS Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.  Prior knowledge of Intacct, QuickBooks, CS Practice, UltraTax, bill.com or other accounting programs would be helpful. 
Other Requirements: Perform other duties as required. Availability to work additional hours or weekends, as projects demand and travel on short notice.
