Description
Client Development & Experience Representative
Sales and Marketing ("SAM") | Global Water Technology, Inc.
Executive Narrative: The Client Development & Experience Representative is an important member of Global Water Technology's Sales & Marketing organization responsible for supporting both the development of new client relationships and the continued strength of GWT's existing client relationships.
Operating within a highly specialized, relationship-driven industry, the Client Development & Experience Representative serves two complementary functions. From a Client Development perspective, the Representative identifies, develops, and qualifies new business opportunities that support GWT's long-term organic growth strategy. From a Client Experience perspective, the Representative serves as an additional relationship touchpoint and internal quality-assurance resource for existing clients, partnering proactively with GWT's Water & Energy Services (W&E) teams to help ensure clients feel heard, commitments receive appropriate follow-through, and important account management activities remain visible.
Working in partnership with the Manager, Client Development & Experience, Regional Vice Presidents, Business Development Representatives, Account Managers, Sales Enablement, and W&E field leadership, the Representative develops qualified opportunities through research, outbound prospecting, strategic marketing campaigns, referrals, networking, and follow-up activities while maintaining proactive engagement with assigned existing clients.
This position is much more than traditional prospecting or cold calling. The Representative is responsible for developing meaningful relationships, understanding client and prospective client needs, identifying opportunities where GWT's technical expertise can create value, and connecting those opportunities with the appropriate regional commercial and technical teams. Through the Client Experience function, the Representative also provides an additional perspective into existing relationships, helping reinforce important account management practices, close communication loops, and identify potential concerns before they become larger client issues.
The Client Experience function is designed to complement and strengthen the relationship between the client and GWT's W&E team, not replace account ownership or create a separate service channel. Account Managers and regional W&E personnel maintain ownership of their client relationships, while the Client Development & Experience Representative provides an additional layer of proactive outreach, visibility, follow-through, and internal quality assurance that helps strengthen GWT's overall client experience.
Success in this role is measured by the quality of relationships developed, qualified opportunities generated, pipeline growth, client engagement, regional collaboration, effective follow-through, and the ability to positively contribute to both client retention and GWT's continued organic growth.
Key Responsibilities:
Client Development & Opportunity Generation
โ€ข Research prospective clients within assigned geographic regions, market segments, and industry verticals and maintain targeted prospect lists aligned with regional growth objectives.
โ€ข Identify facility owners, engineers, contractors, consultants, property managers, and other key decision makers and influencers.
โ€ข Utilize GWT's CRM, LinkedIn, industry databases, marketing campaigns, referrals, networking, and other approved resources to identify prospective opportunities.
โ€ข Conduct outbound phone calls, email campaigns, LinkedIn outreach, and other prospecting activities to establish new relationships and generate qualified opportunities.
โ€ข Engage prospective clients to understand their needs, challenges, existing programs, and opportunities where GWT's technical expertise and services may create value.
โ€ข Qualify prospective opportunities using established GWT criteria and sales development processes.
โ€ข Schedule and coordinate meetings and introductions with Business Development Representatives, Account Managers, and other appropriate regional personnel.
โ€ข Maintain appropriate follow-up with prospective clients and successfully transition qualified opportunities to the appropriate W&E personnel.
Client Experience & Quality Assurance
โ€ข Serve as an additional relationship touchpoint for assigned existing clients, working in partnership with Account Managers and regional W&E teams to reinforce GWT's commitment to an exceptional client experience.
โ€ข Conduct proactive outreach to existing clients to understand overall satisfaction, gather feedback, identify changing needs, and provide clients with an additional opportunity to communicate with GWT.
โ€ข Develop appropriate relationships across multiple levels of assigned client organizations to provide broader visibility into the overall health and quality of the client relationship.
โ€ข Listen for and identify potential concerns, communication gaps, unresolved needs, or indications of client dissatisfaction and proactively communicate those observations to the appropriate Account Manager and W&E leadership.
โ€ข Serve as an internal early-warning resource by appropriately elevating potential client-retention risks or significant dissatisfaction before issues become more difficult to address.
โ€ข Partner positively and constructively with Account Managers and W&E personnel to help ensure identified client concerns, feedback, and outstanding needs receive appropriate follow-through and communication.
โ€ข Recognize and communicate positive client feedback, relationship successes, and opportunities for GWT to further strengthen existing client relationships.
โ€ข Identify potential opportunities for expanded services or additional GWT support discovered through Client Experience conversations and coordinate those opportunities with the Account Manager or appropriate commercial personnel.
Account Management Support
โ€ข Partner with W&E personnel to reinforce consistent execution of important account management practices while maintaining the Account Manager's ownership of the client relationship.
โ€ข Help maintain visibility into the completion of annual client reviews and other established relationship-management activities.
โ€ข Review outstanding client quotations, proposals, and identified projects with appropriate W&E personnel and assist with follow-up when projects have not progressed, decisions remain outstanding, or client feedback has not been received.
โ€ข Help identify open client commitments, unanswered questions, or follow-up items that may require additional attention from the Account Manager or regional team.
โ€ข Provide an additional internal quality check on assigned client relationships by helping identify gaps in communication, responsiveness, follow-through, or overall client engagement.
CRM, Reporting & Performance Management
โ€ข Maintain accurate and timely CRM records for prospect development, qualified opportunities, Client Experience activities, client feedback, and assigned follow-up.
โ€ข Document meaningful prospect and client interactions, activities, opportunities, concerns, and outcomes to provide appropriate organizational visibility.
โ€ข Maintain visibility into sales development pipelines, outstanding proposals, Client Experience activities, and other established performance measures.
โ€ข Utilize CRM and other reporting resources to identify prospects, opportunities, client follow-up needs, and outstanding activities requiring attention.
โ€ข Support established Sales & Marketing reporting and performance measurement processes and provide accurate information necessary to evaluate Client Development and Client Experience activities.
Regional Collaboration & Professional Development
โ€ข Work closely with assigned Regional Vice Presidents, Business Development Representatives, Account Managers, Sales Enablement, and W&E leadership to support regional growth and client-retention objectives.
โ€ข Participate in regional planning, pipeline, and account review meetings as appropriate.
โ€ข Approach Client Experience activities as a collaborative resource for W&E personnel, providing constructive feedback and additional visibility intended to strengthen client relationships and support the success of the regional team.
โ€ข Utilize GWT's established sales development processes, CRM workflows, sales collateral, marketing materials, Client Experience resources, and other approved tools.
โ€ข Partner with Sales Enablement and Business Operations to identify opportunities to improve sales development, reporting, client follow-up, and Client Experience processes.
โ€ข Participate in technical sales, Client Experience, and professional development training and continuously develop knowledge of GWT's water treatment, water safety, energy services, account management processes, and broader service offerings.
โ€ข Attend client meetings, regional activities, industry conferences, trade shows, GWT training events, and other professional activities as assigned.
โ€ข Promote GWT's Core Values, operating philosophy, and commitment to exceptional client experiences in every interaction.
Qualifications:
โ€ข Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent professional experience considered.
โ€ข 1-5 years of experience in sales, business development, client experience, customer success, account management, professional services, or a related client-facing role.
โ€ข Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage professionally with prospective clients, existing clients, and internal personnel at multiple organizational levels.
โ€ข Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities with a natural curiosity and willingness to listen, ask thoughtful questions, and understand client needs.
โ€ข Strong organizational and follow-up skills with the ability to manage multiple prospective and existing client activities simultaneously.
โ€ข Demonstrated judgment and professionalism when handling client feedback, concerns, or potentially sensitive relationship matters.
โ€ข Collaborative work style with the ability to provide constructive feedback and support field personnel without disrupting established client ownership.
โ€ข Comfortable conducting outbound prospecting and proactive client outreach through multiple communication channels.
โ€ข Proficient with CRM software, Microsoft Office, LinkedIn, and other sales and business technology platforms.
โ€ข Ability to quickly develop working knowledge of technical products and services and effectively communicate GWT's capabilities and value.
โ€ข Self-motivated, accountable, and comfortable operating within a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
