Job Title: General Supervisor CLIA Laboratory (Toxicology) Position Summary:
We are a growing diagnostic laboratory specializing in toxicology testing, committed to delivering accurate, timely, and high quality results that support patient care and clinical decision making. The General Supervisor is responsible for the day to day supervision of laboratory personnel and operations within our CLIA-certified laboratory. This role ensures all testing is performed accurately, efficiently, and in full compliance with federal (CLIA), state of Texas, and internal quality standards. The General Supervisor works closely with the Laboratory Director, Technical Supervisor and testing personelle to support operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a strong leader, collaborative team player, and hands on technical expert with experience in high throughput toxicology environments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily supervision of laboratory staff, ensuring proper performance of toxicology testing and accurate result reporting. This is an in-person position.
  • Oversee laboratory workflow including accessioning, specimen processing, and LCMS testing operations
  • Ensure all testing is performed in accordance with validated methods, SOPs, and CLIA regulations
  • Monitor and support quality control, calibration, and proficiency testing programs specific to toxicology assays
  • Perform and document training and competency assessments for testing personnel
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation and workflow issues, escalating as needed and ensuring corrective actions are implemented
  • Support method validation, verification, and ongoing assay performance monitoring, particularly for LCMS based methods
  • Maintain inspection ready documentation and assist with regulatory audits (CLIA, COLA)
  • Collaborate cross functionally with operations, quality, compliance, and leadership teams
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorshipto laboratory staff

Minimum Qualifications (CLIA-Aligned):

  • Bachelors degree in clinical laboratory science, chemistry, biology, or related scientific field
  • Minimum of 3year of experience performing high-complexity testing in a clinical laboratory
  • Must meet CLIA General Supervisor requirements under 42 CFR Part 493
  • Required: Prior experience in a clinical toxicology laboratory environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in a clinical laboratory
  • Hands on experience with LCMS/MS instrumentation in a production environment
  • Experience with Agilent LCMS/MS systems strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and toxicology workflows
  • Experience with CLIA, COLA, or other accrediting agencies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of toxicology testing methodologies and workflows, including sample preparation and LCMS analysis
  • Strong knowledge of CLIA regulations, quality systems, and compliance requirements
