Job description

We are searching for a skilled parasitology tech to join our group of exceptional clinical laboratory scientists. Doctorโ€™s Data, Inc. is currently filling fulltime or part time positions for Medical Technologists or Clinical Microbiologists in our high complexity specialty laboratory.

We receive specimens from all over the world with a high positivity rate. Here at DDI, our techs are true professionals that take pride in their parasitology expertise. Our team of experts will mentor and train anyone who wants to expand their knowledge of parasitology testing. We offer an exciting and enjoyable, atmosphere with minimal weekend hours. Be a part of our vision to provide lab testing for assessment of optimum GI health.

Responsibilities include:

ยท Interpret slides for parasite identification, using morphology, shape and size

ยท Performs more complex and โ€œnon-routineโ€ procedures

ยท Follow standard operating procedures in performing test analyses

ยท Operate and maintain standard and complex laboratory instrumentation

ยท Document tasks accurately and timely as part of good record-keeping

ยท Participate in the Quality Systems established

ยท Recognize problems and apply scientific methods to resolve

ยท Report to the microbiology supervisor immediately regarding problems

ยท Ensure that patient test results are only reported with the highest level of accuracy

ยท Follow all safety protocols; assure a safe and clean work environment

ยท May be required to train or give direction to technicians and/or lab assistants

ยท Performs additional duties as assigned

Equipment Utilized:
Fume hood and microscope


Requirements: Bachelor of Science degree (BS) or higher, from an accredited clinical laboratory science program, or a BS or higher in Microbiology with 1 year minimum clinical experience in Microbiology and Parasitology. MT(ASCP) is preferred. Must meet regulatory requirements for high complexity testing.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab โ€“ standing and sitting for extended periods of time, ability to move or maneuver through various departments around the lab, use of hands, fingers, and arms to handle microscopes, pipettes, lab instruments and controls, occasional need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, lift up to 25lb, and specific vision ability โ€“ close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
