While both roles are educational, internships are typically temporary learning experiences, whereas teaching assistants are ongoing staff members assisting in classroom management and instruction.

What are some common challenges faced by interns during a classroom internship, and how can they be overcome?

Classroom interns often face challenges such as managing diverse student needs, adapting to different teaching styles, and balancing observation with active participation. To overcome these, it's helpful to communicate regularly with your mentor teacher, seek feedback, and remain flexible in your approach. Building relationships with students and staying organized can also ease the transition into classroom routines and responsibilities. Remember, asking questions and reflecting on your experiences are key to personal and professional growth during your internship.

What is a classroom internship?

A classroom internship is a supervised, hands-on learning experience in an educational setting, typically for students or aspiring teachers. Interns work alongside experienced educators, assisting with lesson planning, classroom management, and student engagement. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical teaching skills, observe classroom dynamics, and apply educational theories in real-world situations. It is often a requirement for education majors or those seeking a teaching credential. Classroom internships can vary in length and structure, depending on the school or program.

Job description

When you intern at PC Construction you build many invaluable skills and experiences—ones that cannot be taught or learned in the classroom. While your classroom experience will be helpful in guiding you along the way, it is the hands-on experience that provides you with the necessary skills to be successful. Qualified candidates should have a strong desire for hands–on learning in commercial construction and will have completed their sophomore or junior year in a construction or engineering major. Opportunities are available on construction management projects along the East Coast. Internships provide project office experience with some field experience. Other internship opportunities are usually available within our estimating or safety departments, along with laborer internships for freshman and sophomores.

100% EMPLOYEE OWNED

PC Construction is an Equal Opportunity Employer that values and respects the importance of a diverse and inclusive workforce.

About PC Construction: PC offers general contracting, construction management and design-build services to private and public clients across the country. The company manages projects along the east coast from its headquarters in Vermont and a network of locations in Florida, Georgia, Maine, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina and the Mid-Atlantic. From specialized buildings to complex water and wastewater treatment plants, PC is ranked annually as one of the top contractors in the country. A construction industry leader for over 65 years, PC Construction is guided to success by its team of dedicated employee-owners.
