Job description

Classroom Associate
Reports to: Principal
Office Location: Emsworth – Main Campus
Hours: Full Time position, 9 months – 40 hours per week

Holy Family Institute (HFI) is a 125-year-old Catholic organization with an impeccable history of serving children and families in the Pittsburgh Region. We are one of Pittsburgh’s largest social service organizations operating 15 programs in three counties. We are an independent organization guided by Catholic Social Teachings and serving people of all faiths and backgrounds.
General Statement of Duties: The Classroom Associate will be responsible for assisting in the classroom to contribute to student growth. This position will use evidence-based behavioral intervention practices to maintain an environment conducive to learning for all students.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Contributing to Student Growth
  • Internalize goals and specially designed instruction from IEP or general education support plan
  • Assist in working with individual students or small groups of students when needed for academic or social-emotional related content
  • Collaborate with classroom teacher to deliver instructional support throughout all instructional blocks
  • Actively monitor and encourage students throughout all instructional blocks
  • Seeks teacher assistance to adapt materials when necessary
Evidence-Based Behavioral Intervention Practices
  • Provides guided meaningful practice of behavioral and academic skills
  • Participates in team-based meetings related to student classroom performance—both academic and functional performance—and makes informed suggestions as needed
  • Consistently reinforce classroom and building expectations in all school settings
  • Assist in collection of data for providing appropriate classroom interventions
  • Documents and works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to review behavior management techniques that have been utilized and the success or failure of those techniques
  • Responds to crisis situations alongside colleagues
Professionalism
  • Maintains professional competence by participating in staff development activities, curriculum development meetings, and other professional opportunities
  • Communicates with families to discuss their children’s progress and to determine priorities for their children and their individualized education needs
  • Adheres to other requests as indicated by supervisor
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ working in a school
  • Act 33/34 and FBI Clearances Required
  • Driver’s license required
