Join Our Rock Star Team at Family Building Blocks!

Family Building Blocks in Woodburn, OR is seeking a temporary Part-Time Classroom Aide (20โ€“29 hours per week) to support our Therapeutic Classroom from June through September.

Are you passionate about making a positive impact in your community? Do you enjoy working with young children and contributing to their growth and development?

As a Classroom Aide, you'll play an essential role in supporting young children in the classroom and assisting the teaching team. This position offers hands-on experience in a nurturing environment, helping ensure a safe, engaging, and supportive space where children can learn and thrive.

Wage: $16.41โ€“$17.40 per hour, plus an additional $0.50 per hour bilingual differential for qualified English/Spanish speakers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Classroom Support:

  • Provide classroom breaks and step in as a support teacher as needed.
  • Assist in maintaining a structured yet flexible schedule to meet children's needs.
  • Encourage exploration, cooperation, and positive socialization among children.
  • Use positive child guidance techniques and effective supervision strategies.
  • Prepare and organize classroom materials to support learning.

Bus Support & Transportation:

  • Act as a bus monitor to ensure the safe transportation of children.
  • Greet children and families, exchange relevant program and family information, and observe the health and well-being of each child.
  • Ensure all passengers wear seat belts or are secured in age-appropriate car seats.
  • Ensure that each child is delivered to the care of a responsible adult from the authorized list.
  • Follow all procedures to prevent a child from being left behind on the bus.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip checklists and driver safety checks.
  • Assist the Bus Driver with bus-related duties as needed.
  • Act as a backup bus driver when necessary.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom and bus environment.
  • Assist with meal service, cleanup, and laundry as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.
  • Support volunteers and student interns in classroom activities.
  • Provide childcare support for parent involvement activities.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience working in a childcare environment or comparable care program, in the care of infant and/or toddlers/preschool age children.
