Job description

Hourly Rate:ย $24.11| $25.46 after 90 day probation (Overtime and weekends may be required)

Shift: 2nd Shift 2pm - 10:30pm | Shift Differential $0.40 hour


Job Summary

The Finished Oil Operator positionโ€™s focus is the quality and quantity of clarified citrus oils. The positionโ€™s requirements include basic math: multiplication, division, ratio, fractions and percentages.

This position reports to the Oil Operations Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Food Safety is the responsibility of all Ventura Coastalย manufacturing employees. All Ventura Coastal manufacturing employees must be aware of CCPs in their area and how to document them appropriately. ย All staff must report food safety and quality problems to their immediate supervisor in charge during their shift.
  • Responsible for the operation of clarified oil processing systems for lemon, orange, tangerine and grapefruit oils.
  • Great attention to detail when building a cake on the vacuum filter.
  • Carefully inspect the new drum interior with a flashlight before filling.
  • Set aside and report defective drums.ย 
  • Responsible for packing oil in new drums to accurate weight.
  • Accurately write down item number, lot number and drum number on color code tag and attached tag to drum
  • Every time oil is transferred from one tank to another, decant/tap off any water/oil before
  • Write down on batch card the number of Lbs. of oil displayed on load cells before transferringย 
  • Carefully transfer oil from one tank to another without losing any of the oil to the drain.
  • Accurately document all clarified oil production into CitrOS/Sage system.
  • Always maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
  • Dispose of hazardous waste properly.ย 
  • Promote quality and alert supervisor of any non-standard conditions.
  • Follow safety rules and wear proper PPE where required.ย 
  • Must wear a mask when building a cake on vacuum filter to protect from diatomaceous earth DE, dust
  • Responsible for the optimum operation of the De STILL when processing diatomaceous earth, DE.
  • Responsible for optimum operation of the De STILL when making Folded oils.
  • Responsible for the CIP of De STILL.
  • Responsible for processing ย and submitting oil batches to the Shipping Department for closingย 
  • Follow all personal hygiene and all GMP practices.
  • Act professionally towards coworkers, customers, visitors and vendors.
  • Reliable attendance, consistent punctuality and a positive attitude are a must.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor.ย ย 

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required.
  • Must be able to perform simple math calculations: division, fractions, ratios, percentages.
  • Own or be able to obtain a valid forklift license.

Physical Requirements

  • 80% of the employeeโ€™s time will be standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Occasional exposure to caustic chemicals, such as diatomaceous ย earth, DE, loud noise and wet/humid conditions.
  • Occasional use of a step ladder is required.
  • Safe, Forklift Operation is a must.
  • Occasional use of respirators is required.
