Job Description

Atlas is seeking a mid-level Civil Engineer (EIR Environmental Engineer 3) to support land development and site civil projects. This position is responsible for performing site grading, hydrology and hydraulics (H&H), and stormwater management design under the direction of a Project Manager or Senior Engineer. Work includes developing civil design drawings and technical analyses using AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD while coordinating with multidisciplinary internal teams. This role is best suited for an engineer who can work independently on defined design tasks, apply sound engineering judgment, and contribute to successful project execution.
Join a dynamic, value-driven, client- and community-focused environment where your work creates a lasting positive impact for the people and communities we serve.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform site civil and land development design tasks in support of commercial, industrial, institutional, reclamation-related and energy related projects

  • Prepare grading plans, stormwater management facilities, drainage systems, and erosion and sediment control measures

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) analyses to support stormwater design and permitting requirements

  • Use HydroCAD and similar modeling tools for runoff calculations and detention/retention basin design

  • Develop Civil 3D surfaces, grading features, alignments, and plan sheets for construction documents

  • Assist with preparation of engineering reports, calculations, and technical documentation

  • Support local, state, and federal permitting efforts by preparing technical submittals and responses

  • Participate in site visits to observe conditions, support construction activities, and coordinate with project teams

  • Assist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and proposal support activities

  • Coordinate with project managers, senior engineers, and other technical staff to meet project schedules and quality standards

You’ll thrive here if you have

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering

  • 5–7 years of experience in site civil / land development engineering

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, with emphasis on grading and surface modeling

  • Experience performing H&H analyses for stormwater management design

  • Working knowledge of HydroCAD or comparable hydrologic modeling software

  • Familiarity with civil construction plans, specifications, and permitting processes

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks with supervision

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license (or progress toward licensure)

  • Experience with municipal land development standards and stormwater regulations

  • Prior consulting experience supporting multidisciplinary project teams

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
