Job description

Holtec International seeks qualified applicants for the Civil Engineer position in its Civil Design & Construction department with the company's Nuclear Power division. This department is responsible for the Civil Engineering, Design, and Construction Planning for all of Holtec's active and planned Spent Fuel Storage Installations at various Nuclear Power Plants across the United States and worldwide. The Civil Engineer is responsible for preparing comprehensive construction drawings, including site layouts, grading and drainage designs, and reinforced concrete structural details. Your role will involve generating a variety of engineering calculation reports, such as concrete and utility design, geotechnical evaluations, slope stability, and water resource analyses. You will also develop technical specifications and bid documents for large-scale heavy civil construction projects, typically exceeding $10 million in budget. Additionally, you will create project-specific procedures to support construction process control, review shop drawings and vendor documentation for compliance, and provide ongoing support for active construction projects. This position may require occasional travel (approximately 20%) to job sites for short durations.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:
  • BS degree in Civil Engineering (MS degrees given strong consideration)
  • Familiarity with applicable civil codes and standards (e.g. ACI/ASTM/AASHTO)
  • Familiarity with AutoCad and similar Computer Drafting/Design Programs
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis
  • Nuclear Industry Experience preferred, but not required
  • FE/EIT/PE Certification preferred but not required
  • Ability to obtain and maintain unescorted access authorization to a nuclear power plant or other NRC-licensed nuclear facility
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship

Salary Range: $75,000 to $145,000
This position is open to multiple levels, including Associate Civil Engineer, Civil Engineer I, Civil Engineer II, Civil Engineer III, and Senior Engineer. The level at which a candidate is hired will be determined based on education, professional licensure, technical knowledge, and relevant years of experience.
