PATROL OFFICER

HIRING RANGE:                           $30.88-$46.19/hour based on education and position related experience

POSITION TO BE FILLED:           ASAP


HOURS & DAYS OF WORK:       12 hour schedule: Dayshift 6a-6p/Nightshift: 6p-6a, 7 days worked during 14 day pay period, every other Fri/Sat/Sun off
LOCATION OF POSITION:          Elkhart



TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:         Within County (please complete driving page on application)


JOB SUMMARY:
This position must be knowledgeable of laws and procedures to properly perform assignments of patrol officer and to provide the public with limited technical and legal information; patrol the county to maintain civil peace for the safety of life and property; investigate complaints and accidents and enforce county ordinances, state, and federal laws.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:
    Associate degree or 60 college credit hours in criminal justice or related field preferred
    Indiana Law Enforcement Academy certification and maintain appropriate certifications
    Analyze trends in accidents and incidents of crime, provide visible and viable deterrent
    Testifies in court regarding enforcement and investigative actions
    Pre-employment background check (criminal and credit), polygraph and drug screen
