Lumos & Associates is seeking an experienced Southern Idaho Civil Engineering Practice Leader to lead and grow our Civil Engineering practice in Idaho from our Boise office.
The Practice Leader will be integral to the success of Lumos in the Idaho market. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated civil engineering leader to help expand Lumos' presence in Idaho, develop lasting client relationships, lead meaningful infrastructure projects, and mentor a talented, multidisciplinary team.
This role is ideal for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and proven experience in business development in Idaho and leading civil engineering teams in a consulting environment.
What You Will Do
As a senior leadership position within the company, this position will have a track record of consistent business development and leading efforts to secure large scale projects. This position is responsible for overseeing staff workload, scheduling, communications, employee and client relations, performance counseling, and performance management.
Primary responsibilities include:
  • Lead business development efforts and promote repeat and referral business with existing and prospective clients.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, government agencies, allied professionals, and subconsultants.
  • Participate in networking events, business development meetings, and industry-related opportunities.
  • Develop, review, provide guidance on, and direct responses to SOQs, RFPs, and RFQs.
  • Manage client projects from start to finish, ensuring high-quality service and successful project outcomes.
  • Oversee project delivery for a variety of civil engineering projects, including municipal infrastructure, public works, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, and site development projects.
  • Develop, review and approve fee proposals and scopes of work prepared by the group.
  • Manage group backlog and identify current and future staffing needs.
  • Oversee delegation of work and distribution of project load to support efficiency, quality, and a healthy work/life balance.
  • Prepare and present projects to local authorities, including planning boards, city councils, and staff review committees.
  • Communicate business strategy, priorities, and key results to operations staff.
  • Facilitate regular staff meetings to promote open, transparent, and consistent communication.
  • Recruit, hire, mentor, coach, and support the professional development of engineering staff.
  • Promote positive employee relations, support team building, and help resolve employee issues when needed.
  • Formulate and recommend engineering policies and programs that support the organization's competitive position and long-term growth.
  • Serve as a liaison between division leadership, executive leadership, and operations staff regarding decisions, policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
  • Support other duties and special projects as assigned.

What We Are Looking For
Experience
  • 10+ years of proven experience in civil engineering consulting, project management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing civil engineering projects and client relationships in Idaho.
  • Prior experience managing, supervising, training, coaching, developing, and motivating engineering teams.
  • Proven success developing new business opportunities and supporting client proposals.
  • Experience with Idaho municipal infrastructure, public works, water, wastewater, stormwater, transportation, or site development projects preferred.
  • Experience presenting projects to local agencies, boards, councils, or review committees preferred.
  • Strong understanding of consulting operations, project delivery, client service, backlog management, and staffing needs.

Education & Licensure
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with an emphasis in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Idaho.
