JOB SUMMARY

The Mining Engineer will be responsible for supporting the exploration, mine planning and reserves management of the aggregate and sand division of the company. This position will also utilize GIS mapping software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Exploration and Land Management Supervisor with end-to-end Exploration drilling projects

  • Coordinate and prioritize the drilling schedule with the Operations Managers.

  • Schedule internal and external drilling resources to establish realized reserves.

  • Prepare clear and detailed reports on project progress and exploration findings, and continuously look for ways to improve processes and practices

  • Analyze and interpret exploration data, validate results, and create executive summary reports of analysis

  • Assist the Mine Planning Supervisor with engineering life-of-mine plans for quarries as well as sand and gravel operations, focusing on safety, site conditions and limitations, operational efficiency, material quality, etc.

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to communicate technical information effectively and ensure project alignment

  • Assist with updating, managing, and utilizing GIS software

  • Provide technical evaluations of short-term along with long-term mine plans

  • Organize and execute projects of varying scope and complexity

  • Provide calculations and reports about gradations, supplies, reserves, and operations

  • Regular attendance at the worksite or assigned work location

  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field of study required

  • Some experience in mining or the aggregate industry preferred

  • Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Esri, Surpac, etc.) preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong engineering and technical skills

  • Ability to create and understand complex Excel spreadsheets

  • Ability to work independently with some guidance

  • Excellent communication, observation, and reading comprehension skills

  • Ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization

  • Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints

  • Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools

  • Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 90 lbs. of weight

  • Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders

  • Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects

  • Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions

  • Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting

  • Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
