Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer and project manager to support surface mining and heavy civil infrastructure design and analysis as part of the growing AECOM Mining Division. The candidate will have demonstrated broad experience in supporting large civil projects, surface mining operations, and design.
Job Summary/Responsibilities
  • Provides specialized technical input to studies and design for staff's specific area of expertise.
  • Provides technical expertise for studies and design efforts.
  • Presents complex technical solutions to clients.
  • Provides project leadership in the areas of civil design, investigation, analysis, and water management for Tailings Storage Facilities and multi-disciplinary mining projects.
  • Serve as lead engineer or discipline lead on mid- to large size projects.
  • Work with existing and potential clients to provide civil engineering and design solutions for mine sites.
  • Develop project proposals to support and grow the Mining practice.
  • Provide direction to and mentoring to other technical staff in completing project tasks.
  • Performs independent technical reviews of engineering reports and design and signs off on work.
  • May be responsible for project teams that include 5 or more members often representing multiple disciplines including subcontractor(s)
  • Provides estimates, plans, schedules, and conduct or coordinates detailed phases of the engineering projects, focusing on the civil designs, stormwater management of mining projects.
  • Provide advice and consultation to clients on engineering matters, including compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and drainage/civil designs.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License
  • Valid U.S. Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's OR PhD in Civil Engineering or related field of study
  • 10+ years or more of relevant experience
  • MSHA Miner training
  • Ability to get a Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, or Colorado Professional Engineer (PE) License within 6 months of employment.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Demonstrated progressive experience in civil design, construction documentation, stormwater evaluation, and design (e.g., heavy civil grading, hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, stormwater management design), construction monitoring and operations.
  • Progressive project experience to include task leadership and project management roles on design and design-build projects.
  • Ability to serve as primary point of contact with the client and develop client relationships.
  • Lead designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, construction specifications, and final working drawings.
  • Work with CAD designers to produce construction-level drawings including grading, drainage and roadway plans, profiles, details, and sections.
  • Conduct hydraulic analyses and design of channels, culverts, bridges, flow measurement.
  • Design channels and energy dissipation structures that include concrete, riprap, articulated concrete block, fabric-formed concrete, and baffle blocks for erosion control.
  • Coordinate with OSE, EPA, and other agencies for permit preparation.
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Track and manage task budgets and schedules.
  • Author reports and prepare/or direct preparation of detailed calculation packages including proper documentation and references.
  • Must be resourceful, highly organized, professional with attention to detail and people.
