Job description

Civil Project Engineer (Mining Infrastructure)

Location: Phoenix, AZ (Onsite / Field Coordination)

Role Type: Direct Hire

The Opportunity

Are you a Civil Engineer who enjoys seeing a project through from the initial 3D design to the final pour of concrete? We are seeking a Civil Project Engineer to join our Phoenix-based EPCM team.

Reporting directly to the Head of Infrastructure, you will hold a dual-impact role: lead technical civil design for major mining projects while serving as the contractual manager for civil works on-site. You will be the authority on everything from massive earthworks and embankments to structural foundations and site access roads.

Key Responsibilities
  • End-to-End Design: Oversee the design of civil works, including excavations, haul roads, culverts, buried services, and structural concrete foundations for heavy mining equipment.

  • Contractual Management: Act as the primary manager for all civil and structural contracts on-site, ensuring contractors adhere to project safety, environmental, and quality standards.

  • Multidisciplinary Coordination: Liaise with Project Managers and other engineering disciplines to ensure civil infrastructure integrates perfectly with mechanical and process plant requirements.

  • Site Leadership: Advise and monitor site staff and contractors; oversee the initial site establishment, conduct regular inspections, and solve technical hurdles in real-time during construction.

  • Technical Documentation: Prepare engineering proposals, cost estimates, and scopes of work. Review, mark up, and sign off on construction drawings with a keen eye for constructability.

  • Agency Liaison: Navigate interactions with municipalities, regulatory agencies, and owners to ensure all work complies with statutory and safety requirements.

Professional Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

  • Licensure: Registered Professional Engineer (PE).

  • Experience: 5+ years in a similar role within a multi-disciplinary EPCM environment.

  • Sector Expertise: Proven experience on Mining projects (Plant operations or infrastructure).

  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in 3D design of infrastructure (AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar) and the ability to accurately mark up designs for drafting teams.

  • Project Acumen: Experience managing time schedules, costs, and quality for civil/structural contracts.

  • Communication: Strong ability to advise site supervisors and manage relationships with external consultants and contractors.

Why Join the Phoenix EPCM Team?

In this role, you aren't just a number in a design pool; you are the lead voice for Civil infrastructure on high-stakes mining projects. This position offers a direct-hire career path with a global leader, providing the opportunity to work on the "backbone" infrastructure that powers the mineral processing industry across the Americas.
