Job Description:

Parsons is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer with strong experience in NYCDEP sewer and water main design to support NYCDOT and NYCDDC projects. This position requires a versatile civil engineer who can contribute to a variety of tasks, including roadway design, sewer alignment and design, chambers, dewatering, utility impacts, staging, Maintenance and Protection of Traffic (MPT), and coordination among civil, structural, and geotechnical disciplines. While hydraulic analysis may be a small portion of the work, the ideal candidate will bring expertise in DEP sewer and water main design to complement other civil engineering tasks.

This position can be located in either New York or New Jersey.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Perform complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately, with a focus on NYCDEP sewer and water main design.

  • Extract engineering information from CAD drawings and prepare engineering computations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.

  • Complete a variety of assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials suitable for procurement and construction purposes.

  • Frequently interface with other engineering disciplines as well as other departments to ensure project coordination.

  • Prepare detailed requisitions for equipment and materials.

  • Review supplier drawing submittals and perform technical bid analyses.

  • Prepare and issue specifications, data sheets, and other construction documents.

  • Provide technical guidance to CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers, and lower-level Engineers working on the same project.

  • Support sewer alignment and design, chambers, dewatering, utility impacts, staging, MPT, and coordination among civil, structural, and geotechnical disciplines for DDC SE885 Sewer Design projects.

  • Contribute to roadway design tasks and other civil engineering efforts as needed.

  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field)

  • Typically 8+ years of related work experience

  • Professional Engineer registration may be required

  • Experience working on NYC projects, including NYCDEP sewer and water main design

  • Strong knowledge of NYCDOT and NYCDDC projects preferred
