This is a remote/virtual position. Candidate can be based anywhere within the United States.

SLC works on behalf of clients to support utility-scale thermal, solar, wind, battery energy storage, and other power generating and infrastructure projects. We evaluate and optimize technical, commercial, environmental, and financial aspects of the projects for a variety of clients.

This position will require you to perform civil engineering reviews and analyses to understand power projects and distill technical expertise into actionable information that project stakeholders rely on to prudently develop, design, construct, operate, and finance those projects. Working in multi-disciplinary project teams, you will perform tasks such as the following:

  • Perform civil engineering reviews, including storm water drainage, sanitary sewer systems, road design, and earthwork
  • Support preparation and review of site layout, grading, and preliminary drainage designs
  • Prepare and review technical specifications to define construction requirements
  • Advise power project developers
  • Evaluate new power and infrastructure projects independently to support financing
  • Develop technical reports for applicable audiences - including owners, developers, governmental agencies and committees, and financiers
Qualifications

Essential skills and experience: 

  • This position requires a Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. A Master's degree in civil/structural engineering or business (e.g., MBA) discipline is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, drawings, calculations, and models.
  • 5+ years of experience in detailed design of site grading and drainage, storm sewer systems, road design, transport plans, track design, and ponds
  • Power plant (combined cycle, simple cycle, nuclear, wind, solar) project design experience.
  • Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Civil Engineering specifications or calculations.
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to prioritize multiple parallel, fast-paced tasks within schedule and assigned budget
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical evaluation report writing
  • Proficiency with civil engineering software programs such as Civil 3D, StormCad, PondPack, and Mircrostation or AutoCad. Must be capable of working in geospatially located tools.
