About the role

We are seeking a Data Center Civil Engineer to lead the interpretation and application of civil infrastructure requirements for Armada's modular data center deployments.ย 

This role is focused on ensuring our standardized modules can beย permitted, sited, and deployed across diverseย jurisdictionsย without late-stage redesign. You will serve as the internal authority onย civil site requirements, translating local codes, site constraints, and AHJ expectations into clear inputs for product, engineering, and delivery teams.ย 

This is a strategic, cross-functional position at the intersection ofย civil infrastructure, permitting, and modular deployment execution.ย 

Location. This role is remote-based.

Travel. 30% or more

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Civil Requirements & Site Strategyย 

  • Own interpretation ofย civil and site development requirementsย impactingย modular data center deployments, including:ย 
  • Site preparation, grading, and accessย 
  • Foundations, anchoring, and structural interfacesย 
  • Utility coordination (power, grounding, water, drainage)ย 
  • Fire/life safety site considerations (setbacks, access, egress)ย 
  • Evaluateย jurisdiction-specific codes,ย permittingย pathways, and AHJ expectationsย 
  • Identifyย constraints affectingย module siting, layout, and deployment feasibilityย 
  • Support design development as needed by translating site conditions,ย permittingย constraints, utility requirements, and constructability considerations into actionable inputs for engineering and external GC's/civil consultants.ย 

Cross-Functional Leadershipย 

  • Partner with product, engineering, and delivery teams to:ย 
  • Translate civil requirements intoย clear constraints, risks, and design inputsย 
  • Provideย early-stage feasibility assessmentsย and go/no-go recommendationsย 
  • Prevent non-standard site conditions from driving late-stage design changesย 
  • Support customer deployments by:ย 
  • Assessingย site-specific civil readinessย 
  • Coordinating with OEM partners andย local civil consultantsย 
  • Advising on alignment with Armada's standard SKUs vs. required customizationย 

Standards & Scalabilityย 

  • Develop andย maintain:ย 
  • Civil requirement guidelinesย for modular deploymentsย 
  • Site readiness andย permittingย checklists by geographyย 
  • Documentation that standardizes civil assumptions across projectsย 
  • Capture recurring requirements and regional patterns to:ย 
  • Improve deployment speed and consistencyย 
  • Inform product and platform evolutionย 

Required Qualifications

Experienceย 

  • 6+ yearsย in civil engineering, site development, or infrastructure deliveryย 
  • Professional Engineer (PE orย P.Eng) licenseย 
  • Experience withย data centers, critical facilities, or large-scale infrastructure projectsย 
  • Proven ability toย operateย acrossย permitting, site execution, and cross-functional teamsย 
  • Experience managingย consultants, vendors, and project stakeholdersย 

Technical Expertiseย 

  • Strong understanding of:ย 
  • Site development (grading, drainage, access, utilities)ย 
  • Foundations and structural interfaces for prefabricated or modular systemsย 
  • Utility coordination, especiallyย electricalย serviceย and groundingย 
  • Fire/life safety considerations at the site levelย 
  • Ability to interpretย codes, standards, and AHJ requirementsย and translate them into actionable guidanceย 

Compensation

For U.S. Based candidates: To ensure fairness and transparency, the starting base salary range for this role for candidates in the U.S. are listed below, varying based on location experience, skills, and qualifications.

We use a geographic pay structure based on cost-of-labor markets.ย 

  • Tier 1 (e.g., SF Bay Area, NYC, Seattle): $130,830 - $163,530ย 
  • Tier 2 (most U.S. metro areas): $113,760 - $142,200ย 
  • Tier 3 (other cities): $108,080ย  - $135,090

Final compensation will beย determinedย by experience, scope, and level, and may vary from the posted range.ย 

In addition to base salary, this role will also be offered equity and subsidized benefits (details available upon request).
