Job description

Title: Network Storage Engineer (SAN, Cisco MDS, Cisco Nexus -- Must possess a CCNA Data Center Certification or equivalent)

Location: Washington DC 20549

Duration: 6 months.

Security clearance: Public trust (ability to obtain)

Interview: 2 round virtual interview

- 8+ years of experience in data center network administration for storage area networks (SANs).

- Experience working with Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus platforms.

- Must possess a CCNA Data Center Certification or equivalent.

WORK ENVIRONMENT / OTHER /REQUIRED:

Citizenship/Work Authorization: Must meet contract requirements.

Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain Public Trust (or higher if required).

Education: Bachelors degree in a relevant field.

Operational Support: May require participation in on-call or surge support activities depending on operational needs.

Location: Telework (aligned to contract labor-category ).

Travel: As required per contract direction.

Senior provides senior-level administration and engineering support for SAN fabric infrastructure and core network connectivity supporting the environment. This role is responsible for maintaining reliable, secure, and high-performing SAN network operations across enterprise data center services and storage-dependent platforms. The engineer works closely with the Enterprise Operations Center and infrastructure teams to support 24x7x365 monitoring, incident response, and service restoration. The position directly supports continuity, availability, and performance objectives through proactive operations, troubleshooting, and lifecycle network changes.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :

SAN Fabric Administration and Deployment

- Administer day-to-day SAN fabric infrastructure using Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus platforms.

- Configure, deploy, and maintain core SAN network connectivity supporting enterprise storage services.

- Execute moves/adds/changes to SAN network components in alignment with approved change processes.

- Maintain SAN fabric configurations, standards, and baseline documentation across supported environments.

Connectivity and Performance Operations

- Manage all network connectivity to the SAN for storage, virtualization, replication, and backup/recovery workflows.

- Monitor SAN network health, performance, and availability to prevent degradation and service disruption.

- Perform capacity and performance tuning activities to support sustained enterprise storage operations.

- Produce operational reporting for connectivity, availability, and performance metrics as required.

Incident Management and Troubleshooting

- Troubleshoot SAN connectivity and performance issues to restore service with minimal operational impact.

- Perform incident triage, escalation, and coordination with storage, server, and vendor support teams.

- Conduct root cause analysis and document corrective actions for recurring SAN issues.

- Support operational surge and on-call activities tied to critical incidents and outage response.

Operational Compliance and Resilience

- Ensure SAN network operations align with security, compliance, and operational standards.

- Support continuity and disaster recovery objectives by maintaining resilient SAN interconnectivity.

- Coordinate SAN-related tasks with enterprise infrastructure teams and the EOC for integrated operations.

- Maintain SOPs, topology diagrams, and implementation records for audits and operational readiness.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience:

- 8+ years of experience in data center network administration for storage area networks (SANs).

- Experience working with Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus platforms.

- Must possess a CCNA Data Center Certification or equivalent.

Technical Skills:

- Staffing-matrix minimum technical prerequisites: Cisco MDS and Cisco Nexus administration; SAN fabric configuration, deployment, and maintenance; SAN connectivity and performance troubleshooting.

- Operational-context expectations under the operating model (not additional staffing-matrix minimum technical prerequisites): support for 24x7x365 infrastructure monitoring and incident response.

- Operational-context expectations under the operating model (not additional staffing-matrix minimum technical prerequisites): network documentation, escalation, and change control execution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- CCNP Data Center or higher Cisco data center specialization.

- Experience supporting SAN networking in NetApp-centric enterprise storage environments.

- Experience supporting federal IT operations under FISMA/NIST-aligned requirements.

- Experience supporting DR/COOP failover connectivity across primary and alternate data centers.

- ITIL 4 Foundation (or equivalent) with strong incident, problem, and change management discipline.

- NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA)

- ITIL 4 Foundation
