Job description

Position Overview


The Church Administrator serves in a complementary role with the Senior pastor and staff to provide
overall administrative leadership for SLCC. The primary responsibility is to work with staff and
volunteers to organize ministry effectively to accomplish the mission of the church.

  • Part-time: 30 hrs/week
  • Schedule: Set offices hours; other hours are flexible based on ministry responsibilities
  • Supervision: Reports to Senior Pastor; Manages Office Administrator and Property Manager

Primary Responsibilities


General Administration: Oversee the general day-to-day operations and scheduling of the church.
Providing supervision and direction to the Office Administrator in prioritizing their responsibilities.
Insure compliance with policies, procedures, regulations, and best practices for ministry and
organizational functionality.


Financial Leadership: Supervise the financial administrator and work with the finance team to
evaluate the overall financial health and direction of SLCC. Create and maintain organized processes
and procedures for our budgeting process, financial accounting, purchases, marketing, and facilities.


Ministry Formation and Alignment: Work with the elders, church staff, and key lay leaders to form
new ministry structures and procedures and adjust or eliminate existing ones to improve organization
unity and alignment based on our mission. Offer evaluation tools and strategies to sharpen our focus
and maximize desired outcomes. Collaborate with church staff to equip them for the same type of work
in their ministry areas.


Communications Strategy: Develop a clear, effective communication strategy for the church by
narrowing how we communicate, the goals behind each tool, and guidelines for when and how that
communication is utilized. Research how other churches and ministries are using new technologies and
approaches to help insiders be informed and encourage outsiders to be interested.


Human Resources: Coordinate with the Senior Pastor to provide oversight, resourcing, and
encouragement for the church staff. Work to establish best practices for payroll, benefit management,
and paid time off. Schedules and completes annual reviews for all staff. Provides vision and resourcing
to the elders for staff composition, adjustments in current staff responsibilities, and in hiring and
onboarding new staff.

 A clear testimony of faith and calling into ministry
 Agreement with SLCC’s statement of faith and mission
 Experience in administration, finance, and general management

 Excellent organizational skills
 Strong at building relationships and a willingness to make disciples
 An ability to prioritize decision-making around the mission and not processes, procedures,
traditions, or programs
 Represents the church well in professional appearance and conduct
 A capable decision maker who understands the need to keep an organization moving forward
