Job description

Foulkeways at Gwynedd is currently searching for an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and resident-centered Chief Health Services Officer (CHSO) to join their leadership team.

Foulkeways at Gwynedd was the first Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Pennsylvania and the first Quaker CCRC in the United States when it opened its doors in 1967. With over 50-years serving the aging population, they continue to reflect the Quaker ideals of friendship, dignity, and respect for all their residents and diverse staff.

Job Summary:

As the senior Health Services leader for the community, Chief Health Services Officer (CHSO) has the responsibility to plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct all health care programs and services within the context of Foulkeways mission and philosophies, while assuring compliance with professional standards of care and federal/state/local regulations. The CHSO will serve as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) for the community, as well as have the unique opportunity to work in a Medicare-free skilled nursing and personal care setting with no locked dementia care unit.

We strive to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every resident has the right to independence and companionship. The CHSO will also have the opportunity to lead other areas within the health care realm, including, but not limited to, Residential Living, Pharmacy, Fitness, Activities, Health Care on Main, and Hospice/Spiritual Services. The CHSO will provide direct leadership in the ongoing development and refinement of the quality improvement program for all areas of health services, as well as the implementation of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

In partnership with other departments, the CHSO will work to foster and cultivate relationships and a sense of community among all residents and team members through leadership, empowerment and innovation. The CHSO will connect frequently with residents, family members, employees and board members to ensure accurate communication of necessary and important information or messages. The CHSO will also participate in many important operation functions, including, but not limited to, budgeting, regulatory/licensure inspections, recruitment and retention, and committee meetings (Risk, Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement, etc.).

The CHSO of Foulkeways will promote the mission and values of Foulkeways and will assist in the creation of a culture that celebrates diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Qualifications Required:
  • Currently possesses unencumbered license as a Nursing Home Administrator (NHA) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or meets all prerequisites to obtain one without delay
  • Possess thorough knowledge of current local, state and federal regulations, including, but not limited to, those of the Department of Human Services and Department of Health.
  • Minimum 5 years prior related management experience in a health care setting
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in a health-care discipline or health care administration required
  • Knowledge and experienced in electronic medical record documentation; timekeeping systems; MS Office
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Able to effectively communicate with residents, their families, team members and other management team leaders
Qualifications Preferred:
  • Background in Nursing
  • Senior living, long-term care, or aging services experience including familiarity with EMR platforms such as PointClickCare, life safety and nurse call ecosystems, and a resident-facing service culture.
