Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Director of Behavioral Health Services, this position is responsible for performing the duties required to provide psychological services for patients in the Child Development Center.


POSITION QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Education: Doctorate in Psychology

Experience:

  1. Three (3) years postgraduate experience preferred
  2. Two (2) years' experience working with children and families from disenfranchised communities preferred, one (1) year required
  3. Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders and other developmental concerns preferred.

Skills and Abilities which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position:

  1. Understand the social, educational and developmental needs of children and families who are members of underserved communities, including knowledge of the effects of structural inequality on mental health outcomes.
  2. Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  3. Familiarity with and ability to use an electronic medical record.
  4. Demonstrated skill in clinical interviewing, diagnostic evaluation, and counseling with children ages 2 years to 18 years and their families.
  5. Demonstrated skills in consultation and the ability to work as part of a team.
  6. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with staff, patients, and the community.
  7. Ability to treat people from diverse backgrounds.
  8. Awareness of cultural differences and need for creativity in choosing treatment approaches.
  9. Demonstrate a trauma-informed approach to care.

Transportation Requirement: Must possess a valid driver's license and automobile with insurance coverage as required by the State of Missouri

License(s)/Certification(s) Required: Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the State of Missouri


FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Essential Functions:

  1. Completes psychological assessments, testing and provides therapy to Child Development Center patients and their families.
  2. Monitors case records to ensure quality and professionalism.
  3. Complete documentation in the electronic medical record within Affinia Healthcare expectations to enhance communication between team members and understanding of treatment goals and progress.
  4. Develops and aids in the implementation of treatment program.
  5. Collaborates with care coordinator to ensure families' psychosocial needs are addressed and utilize input from case manager when developing treatment plan.
  6. Collaborates with outside agencies, outpatient programs, and other treatment providers to enhance patient care.
  7. Provides tele-health consultation and services as needed and appropriate
  8. Participates in multidisciplinary peer review with Child Development Center and health center staff, including pediatric providers.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned by Department Director.

Marginal Functions:

  1. Participates in required meetings.
  2. Organizes and implements staff development for CDC team.
  3. Assist in integrating the Child Development Center into Affinia Healthcare primary medical and dental care as needed.
  4. Participate in Affinia Healthcare organizational committees as needed.

Supervises: Students and volunteers as needed
