Job description

POSITION SUMMARY 

The Director, Strategy & Impact is critical to the work of the Division and the overall strategic direction of the district. This position partners with the Chief Strategy Officer and other district leaders to aid in developing and monitoring district and school strategic plans and strategies. The incumbent is responsible for leading strategy management, overseeing the District's Key Performance Indicators, and leading the evaluation of key initiatives. The Director also provides leadership for the district's implementation of GO Teams, Cluster Advisory Teams, and the District Executive Committee.

MIMIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


EDUCATION:

  • Master's degree or higher

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • N/A

WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 10 years of progressive work experience in education or similar large-scale organizations working with senior leaders to formulate strategy, including 5 years of systems-level leadership experience
  • Experience in a K-12 environment preferred


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Proven expertise in leading large-scale organizational transformation efforts and developing long-term plans and strategies for both internal and external communication and engagement
  • Knowledgeable of quantitative methods, statistical methodologies, and data visualization
  • Knowledge of data systems and statistical software common to the educational setting (e.g., student information systems, STATA, SAS, SPSS, R, etc.)
  • Experience developing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs)
  • Advanced skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, managing processes, collaboration, and interpersonal relationships
  • Ability to work across multiple organizational domains to achieve short-term and long-term objectives
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills with a variety of audiences and with diplomacy and tact
  • Strong project management skills, including experience executing large, district-level initiatives
  • Knowledge of public school administrative structures and challenges facing large, diverse, urban school districts
  • Familiarity with local and state laws governing a charter system and ability to analyze and interpret legislation and policy documents

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Directs the district's strategic planning process (including schools)
  • Manages the District's Key Performance Indicators, including meeting with stakeholders to select measurable and improvement-oriented metrics and goals, advising on strategies, and managing the tracking and reporting of indicators
  • Works with the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) to communicate the strategic plan internally and externally to garner support, and monitors the execution within the organization
  • Actively engages strategy owners by providing appropriate tools and resources for strategy management
  • Performs evaluations of key district initiatives and academic interventions
  • Leads District survey work, serving as a survey design expert for other departments
  • Provides guidance and support for the leadership team focused on the implementation of the school governance teams
  • Actively leads and provides subject matter expertise for large-scale change initiatives and special projects
  • Leads the research proposal process, including making and managing proposals, granting approvals, and serving as the research liaison for district data
  • Collaborates with District research partners and provides data to other external partners
  • Supervises, evaluates, and provides leadership for assigned teams (including Strategy Management, Data/Research functions, and GO Teams)
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative
