Job description

The Chief Steward is the manager of all galley operations. This typically includes determining the menu, ordering of food, preparation of three meals a day, with “night lunch” available overnight. Additionally, they monitor food costs and conduct light hotel services such as management of the linen and towels onboard. They typically supervise and work directly with a 2nd cook to assist in galley operations.


All Galley members must meet the following requirements:

  • Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card
  • Valid Merchant Mariners Credential issued by the US Coast Guard
  • Current USCG physical examination
  • Legally eligible to be employed in the United States (Proof of identity and eligibility will be required upon employment)
