JOB OVERVIEW
• Job Title: Colon & Rectal Surgeon
• Job Type: Permanent – Full-Time
• Location: Munster, IN
• Service Setting: Inpatient/Outpatient
• Schedule: Monday – Friday; shared call rotation (1:4)
• On-Call Expectations: Rotational 1:4 schedule including General Surgery call
• Start Date: Upon completion of credentialing (approximately 90–120 days post-offer)

PATIENT POPULATION & SCOPE
• Patient Demographics: Adult and geriatric populations requiring colorectal and general surgical care
• Average Daily Volume / Census: Varies by surgical block and clinic schedule
• Admissions & Rounding: Included
• Consults & Follow-Ups: Yes
• Case Mix/Clinical Focus Areas: Colorectal procedures, general surgical cases, screening and diagnostic colonoscopies, and minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgery

FACILITY & TEAM DETAILS
• Beds in Department/Unit: Integrated within a full-service surgical department
• EMR System: Epic
• Specialty Backup: 24/7 Anesthesia, GI, Oncology, and Critical Care support
• Support Staff: Dedicated nurse practitioners and clinical team support across inpatient and outpatient settings
• Leadership & Reporting Structure: Reports to the Chief of Surgery / Medical Director

CREDENTIALING & COMPLIANCE
• Board Requirements: Board Certified or Board Eligible in Colon and Rectal Surgery
• DEA & Certifications: Active DEA; BLS and ACLS required
• Credentialing Timeline: 90–120 days

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
• Board Status: BC/BE in Colon and Rectal Surgery
• State License Required: Indiana medical license or eligibility to obtain

• Experience: Prior inpatient and outpatient surgical experience preferred; proficiency in robotic-assisted surgery required
• Additional Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills, commitment to quality care, and ability to work within a collaborative surgical team

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide full-spectrum colorectal and general surgical care, including robotic-assisted and minimally invasive procedures
• Perform inpatient rounding, outpatient consultations, and follow-up visits
• Participate in General Surgery call rotation (1:4)
• Utilize Epic EMR for all clinical documentation and care coordination
• Collaborate with nurse practitioners, physicians, and multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in clinical quality and performance improvement initiatives
• Contribute to the growth and leadership of the surgical program within Community Healthcare System
