Job description

SUMMARY 

BLUvera is currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer I or II to join the construction products manufacturing and fabrication process engineering department. This role is responsible for leading process improvements in plant operations, developing and implementing manufacturing processes, and providing hands-on maintenance and engineering support. 

Please note - we have multiple openings available between the St. Paul facility and our new Fridley facility.

Reporting directly to the Sr. Manufacturing Engineer or Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing Engineer will ensure plant objectives in safety, quality, customer service, and cost are met through efficient and effective operations. The ideal candidate will have a combination of previous hands-on and design experience in equipment maintenance, process, and product design. 

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Leads engineering process improvement of plant operations, collaborating with safety, quality, and environmental teams 
  • Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing processes; documents changes 
  • Implements process control techniques and procedures 
  • Analyzes manufacturing process flow for improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and cost 
  • Collaborates with plant team on product tooling and design for effective production methods 
  • Designs and develops manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and new products with zero defects and low production cost 
  • Provides hands-on maintenance and engineering support to troubleshoot technical issues 
  • Identifies, documents, and completes preventative maintenance tasks 
  • Works with production department to develop and implement technical training for team members 
  • Creates and maintains documentation of tool drawings and design concepts 
  • Maintains thorough knowledge of all processes and production equipment 
  • Utilizes lean methodologies and tools to achieve plant goals 
  • Builds relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels 
  • Performs all other duties as assigned 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering 
  • 3+ years of assembly/manufacturing experience in process engineering/maintenance with emphasis on continuous process improvement 
  • Demonstrated experience in equipment maintenance, process improvement, and product design 
  • Understanding of construction scopes (framing, electrical, exterior finishes, interior finishes) 
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and excellent root cause analysis skills 
  • Proven problem-solving and organizational skills 
  • Experience leading continuous improvement and change management activities 
  • Experience with AutoCAD 
  • Familiarity with electrical systems and UL compliance 
  • Proven Lean manufacturing experience 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite 
  • Active listening skills and effective communication; openness to diverse input and feedback

The base pay range for this role is $76,200 - $114,300. (Actual range is higher for the following office locations: Denver, CO and Chicago, IL - 5%, Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR - 10%, Washington, D.C. - 12.5%). 

Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills, and experience, with consideration given to internal equity.  This position is eligible for Mortenson's incentive plan.
