JOB SUMMARY
Are you a chemistry, chemical engineering, or science student looking for a hands-on summer internship where you can apply what you've learned in the classroom? Join Apex Water and Process as a Chemistry Lab Intern and gain real-world experience in an industrial chemistry laboratory.
In this exciting summer internship, you will work alongside experienced chemists and laboratory professionals to analyze water samples, perform pH testing, titrations, and additional wet chemistry methods, and support projects that help our customers improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet environmental and operational standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform routine laboratory analyses on water samples, including pH, conductivity, alkalinity, hardness, and other standard water quality tests.
  • Conduct titrations and additional wet chemistry methods following established procedures and quality standards.
  • Prepare reagents, calibration standards, and laboratory solutions.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, including pH meters, balances, and other analytical instruments.
  • Record, analyze, and interpret test results with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Enter sample and testing data into laboratory information systems, spreadsheets, and ERP systems.
  • Log incoming samples accurately into the intake database, verify proper labeling and documentation, and ensure timely management of samples.
  • Distribute completed lab reports to our customers and follow up on questions or needed corrections.
  • Coordinate with external labs and with field representatives for materials or service needs, ensuring smooth communication and workflow.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
  • Adhere to and support all safety policies and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma
  • Currently enrolled in college/university, with at least sophomore standing.
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn systems.
  • Demonstrated and recognized integrity, sound character, social skills, and leadership ability.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Prior laboratory experience through coursework, research or internships.
  • Experience performing titrations and other wet chemistry techniques.
