Summary of Functions:
The Cook I position at Masselow's Steakhouse is a highly skilled culinary role responsible for preparing high-quality dishes using various cooking techniques in alignment with the restaurant's fine dining standards. The Cook I supports the kitchen staff in the daily execution of menu items and specialty dishes while upholding the highest standards of food quality & safety. This role requires precision, consistency, and a commitment to excellence in every plate served.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ability to perform various types of cooking methods
  • Follows all recipes and control procedures.
  • Prepares or displays food to specifications.
  • Assists Sous Chef in preparing specialty dishes.
  • Rotates food products daily ensuring the highest quality possible.
  • Follows all food safety and sanitation guidelines set for by the FDA to ensure HACCP.
  • Performs quality control checks before, during, and after production to ensure health and sanitation standards.
  • Continually reviews kitchen operations for improvements.
  • Performs all other tasks as requested by the Sous Chef, Food & Beverage Manager or Regional Business Manager.
  • Available to work any changes in hours deemed necessary for business levels.
  • May be required to be a panelist for the Internal Review Hearings.

Education
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Experience
  • One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Skill in identifying and resolving problems under pressure conditions.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts related to food.

Other Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Kalispel Tribal Work Permit.
  • Washington State Food Handler Permit. - must obtain within 14 days of start date.
  • Hepatitis A vaccination.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays is a requirement.
