Job description

Rockhurst University is seeking applications for a Cheer Coach. Founded by the Jesuits in 1910, Rockhurst is a comprehensive university of 3000 students that offers more than fifty undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs taught by nationally recognized faculty. Rockhurst emphasizes learning, leadership, and service. Our mission is to transform lives by creating a learning community centered on excellence in undergraduate liberal and graduate education. Rockhurst is Catholic and Jesuit, involved in the life and growth of the city and the region, and committed to the service of the contemporary world. We employ approximately 500 faculty and staff.
The Cheer Coach will be responsible for all aspects of developing and coaching the Cheer program. The Cheer Coach will be responsible for the recruitment of student-athletes while also supporting a culture that offers a positive student-athlete experience.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
  • Attend cheer events. This includes presence at practices, RU home games, special events, and cheer competitions.
  • Evaluate academically and athletically qualified student-athletes for recruitment.
  • Plan and implement instructional practices that maximize the talent and potential of student-athletes, while instilling values such as sportsmanship, leadership, and personal wellness.
  • Demonstrate the ability to relate to, and motivate, student-athletes and to work with a variety of University staff, alumni, and the outside community.
  • Promote the mission of the Athletic Department and Rockhurst University

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Time management skills
  • Minimum 2 years of cheer coaching experience
  • Preferred - cheer coaching and/or participation at the collegiate level
  • Bachelor's Degree
