Job description

This role requires the ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.

Do you thrive on designing advanced network solutions for clients in specialized vertical markets? As a Vertical Sales Engineer II at Spectrum, you will partner with sales teams and customers to deliver strategic, cost-effective proposals for Fiber Internet Access, Private Networking and Voice solutions. Your expertise will drive successful implementations and position Spectrum as the technology provider of choice for mid-market organizations.


How You Will Make an Impact 

  • Communicate directly with clients and sales teams to assess network environments, business requirements and technical needs, delivering tailored solutions and strategic proposals 
  • Design complex voice and data network solutions, including preparing network topologies and technical specifications for customer applications 
  • Prepare pre-sale conceptual designs and collaborate with Engineering and Operations for solution review, approval and costing 
  • Compile project cost elements and work on solution pricing, submitting IRR analyses to Finance for approval 
  • Review and refine solutions for mid-market clients with 25-500 employees, ensuring proposals align with client needs 
  • Support Sales Engineer I with complex voice and data network solutions, providing technical guidance and assistance 
  • Present technical proposals on Spectrum Business products, guiding customers through integration and implementation 
  • Act as a liaison between customers, sales teams and various internal departments, conducting site surveys to ensure successful installations 
  • Provide post-sale documentation and support to installation and project management teams, clarifying service expectations with diagrams and written materials 
  • Deliver technical training to Account Executives, Account Managers and Sales Support personnel and assist in the development and launch of new products 
  • Maintain and strive to improve knowledge of Spectrum Business products, industry trends and emerging technologies

What You Will Bring to Spectrum


Required Qualifications 


Education 

  • Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in IT or equivalent training, education and experience  

Experience 

  • 5+ years of sales engineering and networking experience in the telecom or service provider industry 

Skills 

  • Read, write, speak and understand English 
  • Work closely with sales executives and proven knowledge of the sales cycle 
  • Knowledge of Metro Ethernet technologies (EPL, EVPL, ELAN), LANs, WANs, email, DNS, TCP/IP, firewalls, VPNs and data security methods 
  • Extensive understanding of industry networking technologies: TCP/IP, IP VPN, MPLS, VPLS, Ethernet, VoIP, SONET, DWDM 
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals: routers, switches, LAN, MAN, WAN, DS3, OC-x, CSU/DSU and CPE 
  • Voice networking expertise, focusing on VoIP, signaling protocols, PBX and strong knowledge of converged multimedia applications 
  • Experience with routing protocols such as BGP, ISIS, OSPF, RIP and emerging technologies 
  • Understanding of business drivers, industry trends and regulatory shifts in targeted vertical markets 
  • Proven track record of developing long-term relationships with key decision makers in large enterprises 
  • Proficiency in MS Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project Presentation and proposal design skills 
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and auto insurance coverage 

Preferred Qualifications

A qualified applicant’s criminal history, if any, will be considered in a manner consistent with applicable laws, including local ordinances.
The base pay for this position generally is between $83,200.00 and $163,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
In addition, this position has a commission earnings target starting at $30,000.
