Job description

Ag/Construction Diesel Technician
Service technicians for Champlain Valley Equipment are responsible for diagnosing, adjusting, repairing, or overhauling machinery and equipment, such as farming, forestry, and light construction equipment. Our Service Technicians represent the whole company and our brand in prominent and significant settings. To be successful, the Service Technician will understand that she or he embodies the company and is seen by customers as a representative of the whole company.

Dealership hours are 7:30am to 5:00pm Monday through Friday and 8:00am to noon on most Saturdays.

Tasks 

  • Maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery, forestry equipment and/or light construction equipment.

  • Reassemble machines and equipment following repair, test operation and adjust, as necessary.

  • Examine and listen to equipment, read inspection reports, and confer with customers to locate and diagnose malfunctions.

  • Dismantle defective machines for repair, using tools.

  • Test and replace electrical components and wiring, using test meters, soldering equipment, and hand tools.

  • Repair or replace defective parts, using hand tools, power tools, torches, welding equipment, grinders, or saws.

  • Clean and lubricate parts.

  • Tune or overhaul engines.

  • Assemble and inspect new equipment.

  • Record details of repairs made, and parts used.

  • Drive trucks to haul tools and equipment for on-site repair of large machinery.
