Calling Gastroenterologists! An exciting locum tenens opportunity in Plattsburgh, New York is available for a skilled Gastroenterologist looking for flexible coverage and a dynamic clinical environment.

This role offers a great mix of inpatient consults, elective procedures, and on-call coverage, allowing you to work with a supportive clinical team while providing high-quality gastrointestinal care to a diverse patient population.

Provide inpatient gastroenterology coverage along with elective procedures
Perform diagnostic and therapeutic GI procedures in a hospital setting
Manage inpatient consults and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Work alongside APP/NP support staff for coordinated patient care
Utilize Epic EMR for efficient clinical documentation

Assignment Dates: May 18, 2026 December 31, 2026
Coverage Needed: Approximately 1 week per month
Daily Schedule: 7:30 AM 5:00 PM
Call Coverage: Yes includes select 24-hour call shifts

Typical Day Example

• Morning: Endoscopic procedures (elective and urgent cases)

• Afternoon: Inpatient rounding and GI consults

Potential Weekly Coverage Model

• Monday Thursday: Procedures + inpatient consults

• Friday Sunday: 24-hour call coverage

(Flexibility is available based on provider availability.)

The provider will be responsible for performing:

Endoscopy
Colonoscopy
Inpatient GI consults
Patient rounding and treatment planning
Urgent or emergent GI procedures when needed

Average Workload

• 40 procedures per week (mix of elective and urgent)

• inpatient consults

Advanced Practice Provider support (Nurse Practitioner)
Collaborative hospital-based care model
Trauma Level III facility
Epic EMR system
Minimal oversight of inpatient NP when required

Board Certified / Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
Gastroenterology Fellowship Required
Active BLS & ACLS Certifications
PALS Certification
Comfortable performing endoscopy and colonoscopy procedures

16 hours of orientation provided to ensure familiarity with hospital workflows and systems.
