Job Description

The Regional Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing fleet maintenance operations across a designated geographic region to ensure vehicle reliability, safety, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency. This role partners closely with branch leadership, operations, and thirdparty maintenance providers to proactively manage preventive maintenance, repairs, audits, and compliance programs while minimizing operational downtime. The position serves as a regional subjectmatter expert for fleet maintenance practices, systems, and upfit technologies.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive fleet and garage audits at branch locations, ensuring all identified action items are properly tracked, addressed, and closed within required timelines.

  • Monitor fleet operational metrics and proactively collaborate with branch leadership and maintenance providers to plan and coordinate repair and maintenance (R&M) activities while minimizing operational downtime.

  • Maintain ownership and accuracy of asset, vehicle, and contact data within the Fleet Management System (FMS) to ensure effective automated push notifications for scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and defect resolution; promptly address and resolve system or communication issues with relevant stakeholders.

  • Partner with maintenance providers prioritize work orders, allocate resources efficiently, and coordinate maintenance activities based on operational urgency and business needs.

  • Manage preventive maintenance (PM) task lists and schedules to support maintenance providers in extending vehicle service life and reducing unplanned equipment failures.

  • Review, approve, and control repair expenditures in accordance with established cost guidelines and spending thresholds.

  • Oversee state inspection and Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance programs administered by maintenance providers, ensuring all fleet vehicles meet applicable regulatory requirements.

  • Ensure compliance with OEM specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements by managing the distribution, tracking, and follow-up of Service Bulletins and Campaign Directives.

  • Serve as the on-duty liaison to Operations for the rapid coordination of emergency roadside assistance and recovery services through approved third-party vendors.

  • Manage and respond to all accident-related inquiries and tasks, ensuring timely documentation, communication, and resolution in alignment with company policies.

  • Provide technical expertise and hands-on guidance to maintenance technicians and vehicle operators to resolve upfit-related issues, including onboard security systems, telematics, and camera equipment.

  • Analyze vehicle performance and maintenance data to identify trends, improvement opportunities, and strategies to optimize fleet reliability, safety, and cost efficiency.

  • Perform additional job-related duties and special projects assigned.

Education

  • A high school diploma or GED, an associate or bachelor's degree in logistics, business, or a related field is preferred.

Experience

  • 2-5 years of experience in a similar supervisory role, or within a fleet or transportation environment.

  • Prior handson experience as a Diesel Technician, with demonstrated working knowledge of preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of medium or heavyduty vehicles.

Skills & Abilities

  • Leadership & Communication: Effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to lead and motivate teams are crucial.

  • Technical Proficiency: Computer literacy, including experience with fleet management software, spreadsheets, and databases, is essential.

  • Operational Skills: You should have strong organizational skills, be detail-oriented, and possess excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities to manage fleet operations efficiently.

  • Safety & Compliance: A thorough understanding of safety regulations and the ability to ensure compliance are also vital.

Certifications

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified Fleet Management Operations (CFMO) or Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) are preferred.
