Location: Lenexa, KS

Job Summary and Purpose:

The Facilities Technician I is responsible for general cleaning and restocking, vendor contact, trash removal, linen and gown cleaning pick-up and distribution, delivery of housekeeping related supplies, hazardous waste duties including annual certification, bio-hazardous waste removal, recycling removal, forklift certified and answering miscellaneous requests and supporting the daily workings of the company.

Responsibilities and Key Duties:

Stocking of Clean Room Garments:

        Make sure soiled garments are gathered daily from each dock area in totes

        Palletize totes for shipment

        Make bill of lading and ensure delivery to the warehouse

Bio-hazard Waste Removal:

        Order and maintain an adequate supply of empty containers and red bags from our biohazard waste vendor

        Promptly remove all full containers from all collection sites

        Keep storage area neat and organized at all times

        Sign manifest from pickups and file properly

        Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations on handling biohazard material

Maintain Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area:

        Ensure weekly inspections are performed

        Remove hazardous waste from satellite collection areas when notified

        Make sure all hazardous waste is labeled properly

        Communicate with hazardous waste vendor for pick up times and dates

        Sign manifests from pickups and file properly

        Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations

        Responsible for the oversight and compliance of all hazardous waste and universal waste on site

        Required to recognize, handle and prepare hazardous materials and articles as universal or hazardous waste, and conduct inspections of hazardous waste containers and accumulation areas

        Prepare hazardous waste and documentation for shipment and sign manifests

Assist vendors with weekly/monthly visits:

        Accompany AAA linens with weekly deliveries of scrubs

        Monitor scrubs and towels in all buildings to ensure adequate supplies are available

        Stock locker rooms and changing areas with gowning garments

        Communicate with purchasing when scrub orders are to be changed

        Coordinate with recycling vendor for pick up

        Stage all recycling and load onto the truck

        Sign bill of lading for recycling and file properly

General Housekeeping:

        Inventory all lunch rooms, restocking daily or as needed

        Order all lunch room and cleaning supplies, arranging with vendor for delivery

        Offload delivery of break room supplies and store as needed

        Maintain all records of supply orders

        Bale cardboard & stage for recycling

 

        All other duties as assigned

Technical / Functional Competencies:

Operational forklift usage

Ability to obtain certifications through Ceva: Forklift/Hazardous Waste/Bio-hazard Waste

Qualifications:

Education - High School Diploma or equivalent required

Work Experience - prior related work experience preferred but not required 

Physical Requirements:

        Bending at the waist or knees

        Lifting up to 50lbs

        Standing  for long periods of time

        Visual Inspection

        Must be able to read, write legibly and communicate in English

Working Conditions:

        Portions of the job are required to be done outside regardless of the weather
