Responsibilities

The Admission Representative Clerk is responsible for overseeing patient registration and scheduling for the practice. The Patient Access Representative also acts as a customer advocate and OPA representative, meeting the needs of our surgeons, staff, and patients throughout the clinic experience.

  • Answer incoming calls and respond to inquiries or route calls appropriately, interacts with patients in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Register patients accurately, including demographic, insurance, and contact information.
  • Schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments using the clinic’s electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations or referrals.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to ensure smooth patient flow.
  • Assist with administrative tasks such as scanning, filing, and data entry.
  • Handle patient complaints or concerns with empathy and escalate when necessary.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains safe work practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education Required: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or healthcare certification preferred

Experience Required: 

  • 1+ year of experience in a healthcare or customer service setting.
  • 4-5 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance plans, and EHR systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner) is a plus.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.

Preferred Skills:
