As a Cemetery Sales & Services Representative, you'll help individuals and families make important pre-planning and memorial decisions with care, empathy, and professionalism. Under direction of the Cemetery Manager, performs sales, organizes services, maintains records, and assists with operations of the Hillside Memorial Cemetery. Examples of Duties Serves as a liaison to funeral directors and the public in the arrangement of cemetery services, including product sales presentations, coordinating burial services, and coordinating memorial installations and inscription requests; Presents product options to client families at a level to achieve a minimum pre-set sales target; Makes recommendations to increase sales and cemetery profitability; Assists families with the selection of appropriate and desired merchandise and/or services; Maintains complete knowledge of all products and services available to client families and explains the differences and benefits of each; Executes and finalizes all financial arrangements for purchases of merchandise, services, and property selected by the client; secures payment in accordance with City policy; Ensures all required paperwork is completed timely and accurately; Maintains knowledge of applicable City policies and procedures and ensures they are carried out at all times; Collects money, issues receipts, updates, and maintains all cemetery records; Locates gravesite boundaries, oversees the burial process, and coordinates the installation of markers; Answers a variety of inquiries made by phone or in person, including resolution of difficult and/or sensitive complaints or issues; Attends cemetery services as needed to ensure high levels of customer service; Prepares forms and provides suggestions to improve procedures and operations; Plans, organizes, and participates in cemetery special events as assigned; Assists with presentations as needed; and Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent and some college level coursework.
An Associate's Degree or equivalent is highly desirable. Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience focusing on sales and including customer service, marketing and business operations, preferably in a cemetery setting. Licenses: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Driver's License.
Special Requirements: Essential functions and duties require the following physical abilities and work environment: Ability to work in a standard office environment, travel to different sites and locations; Ability to sit, stand, walk on uneven ground, kneel, reach, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and climb; Exposure to heat, noise, and outdoors; and May frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
