Job description

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today's five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected.

Summary:

The Associate Electrical Test Engineer is responsible for the development and execution of tests to ensure the quality of our products. Additionally, is responsible for analyzing the product features, test requirements, creating customized quality checks, and writing up final test procedures for the approval of the sub-system lead engineer. Test engineer is also responsible for the execution of the test procedure as well as for preparing the test report. Broad-based knowledge of engineering and product design, a good eye for detail, and the ability to think out of the box are important requirements for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:​

  • Meeting with the product design team and sub-system lead engineers to determine product testing requirements.
  • Writing test plans, test procedures and developing test processes to maturity.
  • Execution of the test procedure.
  • Training of technical staff and providing technical support when needed.
  • Development, evaluation and implementation of automation into test processes wherever possible.
  • Ensuring all tests and procedures meet company and industry standards.
  • Preparing test reports for management.
  • Providing subject-matter expertise on test equipment and methods to product engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, Aerospace or Computer engineering field or Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering with 2 years of direct experience
  • Flexibility/adaptability in a fast-paced & dynamic environment.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
  • U.S Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a research, development, test or other laboratory environment.
  • Experience with common laboratory software (LabView, Ansys, MATLab etc).
  • Experience with test automation.
  • Familiarity with general purpose electronics test equipment: power supplies, digital multimeters, source meters.
  • Familiarity with battery systems, and battery cycling equipment.
  • Familiarity with photovoltaic (PV) solar cells and their design, test or manufacturing processes.
  • Familiarity with environmental test chambers, vibe table.
  • Experience in quality control or inspection of complicated electronics, particularly those used for aerospace or defense applications.
  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complicated systems.
