TEST AND OPERATIONS ENGINEER
Test and Operations Engineers are the end users and final guardians of Long Wall hardware and engines before testing, and of the rocket before flight. Test and Operations Engineers oversee everything from hardware testing and vehicle integration to ground systems and payload processing.  As a Test and Operations Engineer, you will aid in the development, implementation, and operation of test and launch systems at our Long Beach and El Segundo facilities, our test site in Mojave, and our launch sites.  Responsibilities include preparing and operating sites and hardware for engine testing, launch ground system testing, flight hardware testing, and vehicle launch. This role requires a hands-on individual with meticulous attention
RESPONSIBILTIIES:
  • Develop, write, and review procedures to integrate hardware and test engines, ground systems, and the launch vehicle
  • Perform test operations (e.g., control room operations)
  • Own projects to design, upgrade, build and maintain Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
  • Work alongside integration technicians build hardware and run operations
  • Prepare and participate in reviews for design, test/operations readiness, and failure/safety analysis
  • Lead or contribute to anomaly resolutions
  • Provide launch and mission operations support
  • Review test data and make go/no-go call on vehicle, test article, and GSE integrity
  • Perform final vehicle closeouts and verify hardware is go for test or flight
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of 1+ years of industry, project, or research experience in test/launch operations, hardware design/development, or manufacturing
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Willing to travel to support test and launch operations
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
  • Demonstrate success in technically focused projects involving hardware design, build, and test of support equipment (mechanical, electrical, electronic, and/or fluids)
  • Experienced with P&ID design and fluid instrumentation and control
  • High-pressure gas experience
  • Ability and willingness to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing work environment
  • Experience with cryogenic systems
  • Experience in low-cost commercial / start-up space ventures
  • Experience with vehicle-level integration, test, and launch operations of flight hardware
  • Familiarity with AFSPCMAN 91-710 and ASME B31.3
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with strategic planning, project scoping, budgeting, and scheduling
  • Experience with generating and executing test plans
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to use a computer to complete assignments
  • Ability to communicate with individuals and groups in person, by phone and telepresence
  • Ability to pick up to 50lbs
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will typically work in an office environment
