Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days - totaling 80 hours worked - and have every other Friday off

 

Job Description:

We are seeking a Test Operations Engineer working in a test operations environment supporting production and development rocket engine test programs.  Responsibilities emphasize real-time plant operational support including a variety of technical and project related tasks supporting test facility propulsion systems requirements for successful validation of component and rocket engine test programs.  The candidate will be trained to conduct rocket engine and rocket engine component tests and ensure safe operation of the test facility and all associated mechanical systems.  Standard work processes will be used to develop and write operational procedures and work instructions to direct test stand mechanics and technicians to perform various test facility operations and maintenance activities.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Document preparation, system setups, engineering checkouts/reviews, and conducting rocket engine hot fire testing. 
  • Test Facility maintenance and capital project upgrades. 
  • Provide procurement specifications and engineering evaluations of system processes, equipment, valves, and process piping used for cryogenic liquid propellants, vacuum jacketed systems, and high pressure gaseous systems.  
  • Responsibilities will include working with other engineers to incorporate facility maintenance and capital improvement projects. 
  • Support and implement system safeguards and Safety Protocols. 
  • Candidate will support mechanical system Lock-Out-Tag-Out instructions, engineering and facility readiness reviews, and system checkouts of minor engineering modifications.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering principles
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, product drawings and related specifications.
  • Fundamental knowledge of thermodynamic principles, flow, pressure, and temperature measurements. 
  • Experience with AutoCAD. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent with collaboration in a diverse work environment
  • Self-starter.
