Job description

Job Description:
Purpose:
Lead day to day production and quality control activities within the value stream cell while conforming to the company's culture established by our CIRCLe values, taking personal responsibility for actions and treating fellow employees, customers and vendors respectfully and ethically.
Aids and oversees the production of individualized dental prosthetic products. Full Operational responsibility for the equipment covering milling and/or additive manufacturing, finishing and detailing of restorative dental products. This role includes machine operation and cleaning, handling secondary equipment and related processes such as: "in-process" inspection utilizing manual and automated inspection equipment along with visual inspection using a microscope, batching and mixing of ceramic materials, and set up/preset tools when required.
Regularly partners with CNC Operators and Manufacturing support operators to provide training, guidance, and troubleshooting assistance and escalation as needed.
Accountabilities:
  • Follow and enforce all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Work (SW) to produce restorative dental products while maintaining machines at maximum production levels and adhering to safety standards.
  • Install and adjust milling tools and change operation to different products according to defined Standard Operation Procedures (SOP). Prepare, set up and adjust milling tools per SOP as required.
  • Oversee and support team in verifying accuracy of machine settings and detecting malfunctions. Troubleshoots or escalates issues as needed.
  • Inspect and test work pieces throughout the production run and perform visual and functional in-process Quality Control (QC) inspections in accordance with Quality and Product Specifications/Requirements. Utilizes various inspection equipment such as hand measuring tools and Zeiss Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM). Report results to Quality Assurance, as needed.
  • Perform daily, weekly & monthly maintenance of machines according to preventative maintenance plans and procedures to maintain equipment in optimal production condition.
  • Act as troubleshooter on 3rd level (advanced) manufacturing and machine issues, using prior experience/skills to correct complex problems. Escalates issues to Maintenance/Engineering as needed.
  • Operate all secondary equipment as required within product line or manufacturing cell (Parts washer, microscope, batch ovens, Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM), rotary tools, micrometer, press and mixer, etc.)
  • Work in conjunction with other departments such as CAM, Manufacturing Engineers, Production Supervisors and other Team Leads on solving problems in production as well as continuous improvement of workflow and procedures.
  • Work as part of a team to improve manufacturing processes through Kaizen. Supports the Envista Business System (EBS) through the identification and analysis of quality issues and develops/implements countermeasures in cooperation with production.
  • Manages time effectively to keep machines operating at capacity. Oversees and ensures employees and resources are well allocated to enable good use of machine capacity based on Takt and on time delivery targets are met.
  • Oversees and supports the team in maintaining safety policies and procedures, including 5S initiatives and housekeeping
  • Assist with identifying safety hazards in the workplace and correct/remove or escalate to Supervisor or appropriate party for correction
  • Attend, participate or lead Daily Management / Safety Committees / Training as needed/required
  • Ensure (and reinforce) team members are aware of important company announcements and other items pertaining to their area of work.
  • Other duties as assigned by Production Supervisor or Operations Leadership

Job Requirements:
Critical Knowledge and Qualifications:
  • GED, High School diploma, or equivalent work experience
  • Certificate courses on CNC programing and/or CAD/CAM, strongly preferred
  • Moderate knowledge of PC standard software (MS Office, Internet) required
  • Basic knowledge of SAP required
  • Basic CAD/CAM knowledge preferred
  • Solid CAM, Solidworks and Haas knowledge preferred
  • Expert with reading and editing G code preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, fixtures, inserts and other accessories used on various machines
  • Knowledge and understanding of Quality Management System and ISO 9001 requirements
  • Knowledge of safety and hazardous material regulations - OSHA General Industry Regulation

Critical Skills/technical know-how:
  • Ability to operate multiple types of machines with proficiency, able to manage infrequently occurring situations based on existing precedents and experience
  • Ability to complete full major set up for two or more types of machines
  • Understanding in blueprint reading/ geometric tolerance interpretation required
  • Ability to monitor set up activities of self and others and identify areas that could improve in efficiency thereby contributing to continuous improvement
  • Ability to perform advanced troubleshooting on machines and complex production problems
  • Ability to independently load/unload, stock and change tools without assistance
  • Ability to replace tools, presetting tools in their holders and identifying tool condition
  • Ability to perform tool offsets in order to make a part according to specification
  • Must be fluent in English, both oral communications and reading comprehension
  • Punctual and willing to work in shifts according to the plant's actual model to meet production demand
  • Must be willing to work overtime and company observed holidays depending on business demands
  • Ability to train less experienced CNC Operator on facets of the production cell, process requirements and product specifications

Critical Experience:
  • More than 5 years experience working with CNC 5-Axis, or 3+2 type machines milling machines controlled by Fanuc, Heidenhain and Roeders, or demonstrated knowledge through satisfactory assessment completion required
  • 1-2 years experience leading small teams or projects
  • Significant experience working in NobelProcera product lines preferred

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, reach and bend for 8 hours during work time
  • Must be able to see through and operate a microscope

Target Market Salary Range:

The total compensation package for this position may also include an annual performance bonus, medical/dental/vision benefits, 401K match, and/or other applicable compensation plans.
