What is a CDE?

CDE stands for Certified Diabetes Educator, a health professional who specializes in educating and supporting people with diabetes to help them manage their condition. CDEs can be nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, or other healthcare providers who have specialized knowledge in diabetes care and have passed a certification exam. They provide personalized education, develop management plans, and offer ongoing support to help patients achieve better health outcomes. Their role is crucial in empowering individuals with diabetes to manage their disease effectively.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), and why are they important?

To thrive as a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE), you need in-depth knowledge of diabetes management, nutrition, and patient education, typically backed by a healthcare degree and CDE certification. Familiarity with diabetes management software, glucose monitoring systems, and electronic medical records is often required. Outstanding communication, motivational interviewing, and empathy help build patient trust and encourage lifestyle changes. These skills are crucial for supporting patients in effectively managing their diabetes and improving health outcomes.

What are the typical collaboration practices for a CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) within a healthcare team?

As a Certified Diabetes Educator, you will frequently collaborate with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and pharmacists to develop and implement comprehensive diabetes management plans for patients. You may participate in interdisciplinary meetings, coordinate patient education sessions, and provide updates on patient progress. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as you'll often need to advocate for patient needs and ensure that care plans are tailored and clearly understood by both patients and staff. This collaborative environment fosters professional growth and enables CDEs to contribute meaningfully to patient outcomes.

Job description

Overview

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a CDE Specialist to join the Asset and Information Management team within their Infrastructure division. The position is part of a strategic push to lead the construction sector in digitization, digital engineering, and innovative data management for large‑scale infrastructure programmes.

As a global consultancy, the firm is focused on delivering transformative projects that bridge the gap between people, data, and technology. You will contribute to a vision that moves beyond traditional design by integrating digital twinning, smart cities, and data science. The ultimate goal is to engineer a more resilient, net‑zero future by pushing the limits of how technology can improve the built environment.

Your role
  • Work with clients and project teams to assess information management needs and identify opportunities to improve digital delivery, collaboration and information governance.
  • Advise on, promote and support the adoption of Common Data Environment (CDE) solutions, helping teams understand the value they bring to project delivery and information management.
  • Configure, administer and support CDE and project information systems, ensuring they remain aligned with project requirements and industry best practice.
  • Provide specialist guidance, training and support to users, project teams and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot system, process and user issues, escalating where required and driving practical resolution.
  • Support audits, assurance activities and reporting on information management compliance, document status and information quality.
  • Contribute to bids, client discussions and digital delivery strategies by providing subject matter expertise on CDEs, information management and project technology.
  • Stay informed of developments across the wider infrastructure technology ecosystem, including Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite, Bentley ProjectWise, Trimble Connect, Oracle Aconex and other relevant platforms.
About you

You will bring strong CDE, EDMS or information management experience from infrastructure, engineering, construction or a related project delivery environment. You should be comfortable engaging with clients and project teams to understand their challenges, identify opportunities for improvement and recommend practical information management and digital delivery solutions. We are looking for someone with:

  • Extensive hands‑on experience administering Bentley ProjectWise within a project or programme environment.
  • Strong understanding of CDE principles, document control, information workflows and project administration.
  • Good knowledge of ISO 19650 and wider information management best practice.
  • Experience configuring users, permissions, workflows, attributes, environments, document coding and project templates.
  • The ability to engage with project teams and clients, understanding business and project delivery challenges and translating them into practical information management solutions.
  • Experience supporting the adoption, implementation or improvement of digital delivery and information management processes, including environments where no formal CDE arrangements currently exist.
  • Awareness of, or experience with, wider infrastructure project technologies such as Autodesk Forma, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Asite, Trimble Connect, Oracle Aconex and related collaboration platforms.
